The IMCA Modified front suspension rules have been updated to allow the Speedway Motors’ 68-72 GM A-Body tubular lower control arms as a “spec” arm option in place of the OEM-style stamped steel lower control arms. What that means for your racing program is an IMCA legal lower control arm that matches the original 68-72 Chevelle stamped steel lower control arm profile to maintain correct suspension geometry, without the flexing, high wear rate, and limited availability ruining your race weekend. Not to mention a tubular arm has a much better chance of surviving any sort of impact during an on-track incident.

While racers typically welded a lower shock mount bracket to their stamped steel lower control arms to enable the use of a dirt modified shock package with heim joint style mounting ears, these IMCA-spec tubular lower control arms are protected by a durable black powdercoat finish. This finish would have to be ground off to weld a lower shock mount bracket in place, so we opted to provide a bolt-on mount solution. This bolt-on shock mount kit provides an easy solution to steel swivel end racing shocks that require a clevis-style mounting point when using our tubular lower control arms on your IMCA Modified race car. Manufactured from steel bar stock and coated black zinc, we include both mounting hardware for the shock mount itself and for the shock swivel end mounting as well.
