Overall Assessment

Customers appreciate our 30" polished stainless steel steering column for its high-quality build, traditional style, and perfect fit for classic Ford vehicles. It stands out for its integral turn signal and hazard flasher switch, which adds functionality and usability. Some customers had to make some necessary adaptations due to factors like the wire exit position and turn signal collar alignment, but despite this, they acknowledged the superior material quality and finish of the column. While a few noted it as slightly pricey, the low sale price was deemed manageable. Overall, its excellent polish/finish, simple installation, and compatibility with various Ford models make it a recommended purchase for those preserving or customizing classic vehicles. Negative aspects mentioned are considered minor and manageable by most.

Adjustments needed for install, but a top quality column

The column was fine, though I may have been recommended the wrong adapter.I posted a question and got: "Nostalgia column 91032442 takes the 69-94 adapter such as number 4103196 and will work with steering wheel 91032748 or 410502 which comes with a horn button. Steering wheel 91032748 does not come with a horn button and you will need to get 4105894 horn button to complete installation. The adapter works with any of our 3 bolt steering wheels and if the steering wheel calls for a different adapter number then it is specific to that steering wheel." The first steering wheel mentioned is the one I got, and the hole for the horn wire through the wheel had to be drilled out to fit. The adapter casting did not have a hole in the proper place for this either and had to be drilled, but as it was white metal, it was not a big problem. Don't expect a strictly bolt together operation. I can't imagine a better final result, as all of the parts and the wheel were of the finest quality. The horn button works great too. The wheel did come with a horn button, so now I have an extra. I couldn't see the point of the horn button retainer recommended for the steering wheel that I used either..

I would think twice about this product again.

The finish is great. However when trying to install the steering wheel the bell at the top of the column was way crooked. After pressing it as straight as we could, ended up putting in a lathe and cut the top straight. This required using a spacer to reduce the gap between column and wheel.

The wiring harness for the steering column comes out the middle of the steering column top of the steering column between the steering wheel and firewall, there's no way to hide the wires, the steering harness should come out at the bottom of the steering column so the wires could be hidden, this is a bad design, other than this, it's a nice steering column

Along with the 15" '40 Ford steering wheel, also sold by Speedway and the '40 Ford steering drop by Lime Works, it's the perfect set up for a '40 Ford. Turn signal switch and hazard flasher switch integral with the column.

The turn signal cancel cam unit that came with the column had a horn wire tube that was 1 1/2" long. it did not work with the Grant three bolt adaptor and wheel I also purchased. I needed to purchase a stock GM unit with a tube about 5/8" long in order to attach the steering wheel.

Too pricey to buy again.
