These Hastings valve spring shims are designed for use with our single valve springs (450185G).  These shims will help you achieve the correct installed height for your valve springs when rebuilding Flathead Ford engines.

My Ford 59A motor valve seats have been ground at least three times, but never replaced. I purchased Isky valve springs which should put 85 lbs of pressure on a closed valve with a spring height of 2". To get this pressure I used two .060" shims per valve with the exception of one cylinder which required three shims. Both the shim OD and the ID are critical for this valve assembly, and these shims fit perfectly.

These are the correct size for the flathead and fit the hole in the block (lifter guide) . They cost about 4 times what other valve spring shims sell for but they are the only ones I found that fit the flathead correctly.
