Speedway Motors 80292415 Details

Stock length (5-1/2") slip yoke for GM applications with 1-3/16" x 27-spline output shaft. Works with 1310 series U-joints.

  • This yoke measures 5-1/2" from tip to centerline of u-joint
  • This yoke is grooved for an "external" u-joint cap retaining clip
  • The machined length on the yoke is 3-3/4"

The expressed measurement or length of the slip yoke is taken from the center of the u-joint to tip, not overall. 

Fits over the output shaft of the following transmissions: 

  • Common GM/Saginaw 3 & 4 speed transmissions with a 1-3/16" x 27 spline output shaft
  • Powerglide, T-350, 700R-4, 200R-4, and 4L60 automatic transmissions
  • Muncie M20/M21 and Borg Warner T-5, T-10 & T-56 27-spline manual transmissions

This on line store is the best!

I changed transmission in my 1968 gmc truck and the splines on the tail shaft were different, try findinga york for an old car or truck on the weekend su day to be exact, called everywhere, no deal looked up speedway and what do you know theyhad it!,,

this product was made wrong.

I bought one of these and the splines were not cut right so it won't slide all the way in to the transmission. It was no good. I didn't think it was the part to begin with so I had it painted and beat up before I bought a new one from spicer and it fit right.

I was a little worried buying an aftermarket slip yoke because I always bought Spicer or Dana brand slip yokes in the past. I have to admit that the finish on this slip yoke was perfect. Splines were a little tight on the 1st installation but after tapping it it with a soft mallet a few times...I could easily slide the yoke in by hand. I would buy this yoke again. On a side note after 200 miles the seal is not leaking on the new yoke.

I have a Muncie m21. Should there be an excess of barrel length between the M21 output and the U-joint cap? Or should the slip yoke be flushed with the M21? How to I determine if I should buy a 5 1/2 or 6 inch slip yoke? Why are there different slip yoke sizes? Is it to compensate for the different drive shaft lengths only or does it serve a different purpose?

My stock 1964 Pontiac Tempest/GTO yoke has finished OD that is 3 3/4" long and is 4 29/32" from end to joint center. Several times I counted the spline teeth and get 26 but there is also a keyway-like groove. Does the (1) internal groove take out a tooth meaning it's really a 27 tooth? Thanks!
