I have a 1953 Mercury Monterey, with the original 255 Flathead engine. I am having it rebuilt, but want to remove the 3-speed OD with a C4 auto. I obtained a flat-o-magic conversion housing, and it came with a torque converter. My question is, depending on which tooth-size is correct, do I really need the conversion kit mentioned elsewhere , or will this flex plate be adequate.

Can I use this flexplate to adapt a powerglide torque convertor to my 8RT engine? I realize that I will have to make a transmission adaptor and also turn the spud on the convertor to fit the flathead crankshaft, I will more than likely have to redrill the flexplate to fit the convertor, this is not an issue, I would just like to know if I can use this flexplate for my my application?
