The word on the street may be “LS swap” but we know that as popular as the LS swap has become, there are still way more small block Chevy and big block Chevy powered rides on the street and the track across the nation and literally around the world. A properly built and tuned Chevy V8 isn’t difficult to keep cool with the right size radiator, but what often becomes an issue when building a cooling system for a SBC or BBC is finding a fan shroud, electric fan, and the proper electrical bits to wire up the fan correctly. This is why we have designed an easy to install black aluminum radiator shroud for our line of black universal aluminum radiators for SBC and BBC engines and kitted them with everything you need for a successful stress free installation on your radiator.

A Direct Fitting Fan Shroud That Optimizes Airflow Through the Radiator Core

Designed as a direct fit to our black painted universal small block and big block Chevy radiators, but may work on other radiators if they have top and bottom mounting channels on a 19-inch tall core, our matching aluminum fan shroud provides complete coverage of the entire radiator core surface area. This ensures all air pulled through the core by the electric cooling fans pass through the entire core and not just where the fans are mounted (which is common when you direct mount an electric fan without a shroud).

The shroud is sized to match the radiator width chosen for complete coverage and attaches via the radiator’s top and bottom channels and the included stainless steel and zinc plated button head hardware with nylon lock nuts in the kit for secure mounting. The shroud, made from .063-inch thick 3003 H14 sheet aluminum that is given a black epoxy paint finish that matches our radiators, comes with offset mounting holes to mount the included 10-inch (for 28-inch radiators) or 12-inch (for 31- and 33-inch radiators) electric fans. There is ample radiator shroud surface area to add rubber cooling flaps if desired for highway speed cooling passthrough needs.

A Modern Curved Blade Electric Cooling Fan for Maximum Airflow with Minimum Noise

Electric cooling fans are quite common on modern cars and for good reason. They free up horsepower, allow more compact packaging, and can be controlled to run only when necessary. These same benefits can be achieved in your classic truck, hot rod, or muscle car project using the 10-inch or 12-inch curved blade electric cooling fans used in this kit. The curved, or “S-blade” design of the fan means the fan can run at peak rpm for cooling with lower noise than a straight blade electric cooling fan. The depth, at just over 3-inches, means our fan and shroud assembly will fit in most places a standard belt driven fan will not, which is especially helpful for engine swaps or if you’re running a supercharger or turbocharger and need clearance at the front of your engine. These dual fans have a total airflow cfm of 1,600 (10-inch) to 2,200 (12-inch) through your radiator’s full core thanks to the included shroud, providing a great cooling solution.

A Complete Cooling Fan Wiring Kit to Minimize Installation Headaches

To top off our small block/big block Chevy universal radiator and electric fan combo and shroud kit is our cooling fan wiring kit. Our Pro Series electric cooling fan wiring kit (two supplied, one for each fan) includes a 40-amp relay with weatherproof connector that is suitable for under hood mounting. The kit contains a wiring harness adapter to provide a direct plug-in connection to the included cooling fans. This allows simple and quick disconnection of the fans for service needs. Also included is a fuse holder with fuses and a 3/8-inch NPT thermal switch that threads into your cooling system via the intake or cylinder heads (we also offer this nifty inline adapter for your upper radiator hose). The thermal switch provides a fixed cooling fan on/off operational window of 185/165 degrees Fahrenheit. Both fans can be controlled by a single thermal switch.
