Detroit Speed's front subframe for 1967-1969 F-body and 1968-1974 GM X-Body platforms is engineered from the ground up to deliver precise handling, exceptional fit, and uncompromising performance. Designed as a complete bolt-in replacement for the factory front subframe, it incorporates Detroit Speed's exclusive suspension geometry, integrated rack-and-pinion steering, hydroformed frame rails, and stamped structural crossmembers to create a foundation worthy of today's horsepower, tire technology, and driving expectations.
PERFORMANCE RIDE & HANDLING:
Detroit Speed's proprietary suspension geometry delivers exceptional cornering grip, steering precision, and high-speed stability. Detroit Tuned coil-over shocks, co-developed with JRi, are engineered to complement the system with precise damping and refined ride quality.
Available in Fixed Valve, Single Adjustable, or Double Adjustable configurations, you can choose the level of tunability that best matches your vehicle, driving style, and performance goals. From comfortable street cruising to competitive track use, each option is engineered to deliver the performance expected from a Detroit Speed suspension system.
MODERN RACK-AND-PINION STEERING:
Replacing the factory steering system with an integrated rack-and-pinion design dramatically improves steering precision, responsiveness, and driver confidence. Combined with Detroit Speed's optimized suspension geometry, the system delivers accurate on-center feel, predictable turn-in, and consistent steering feedback through every corner.
HYDROFORMED RAIL TECHNOLOGY:
Detroit Speed is the only aftermarket manufacturer utilizing hydroformed frame rails in a bolt-in front subframe. Unlike fabricated rail designs, hydroforming creates complex shapes while maintaining material integrity and exceptional dimensional accuracy.
Combined with stamped structural crossmembers, the hydroformed rails create an exceptionally strong foundation that resists twisting under acceleration, braking, and cornering. By minimizing chassis deflection, the suspension maintains its intended geometry, allowing the control arms, springs, and shocks to perform as engineered. The result is more consistent steering response, predictable handling, outstanding durability, and OEM-quality fit and appearance.
ENGINE SWAP READY:
Designed to accommodate Small Block, Big Block, and LS/LT engine combinations without modification, the Detroit Speed front subframe provides the flexibility to build around proven GM powerplants while maintaining factory-style installation.
WIDE TIRE COMPATIBILITY:
The suspension architecture provides clearance for 10-inch-wide front wheels without requiring inner wheelhouse modifications, allowing larger tire packages that maximize available grip while preserving a clean installation.
