Looking for a budget-friendly, rock-solid foundation for your 1967-72 C10 truck? Look no further. Our complete rear axle kit includes a strong Ford 9 inch rear axle with our popular rear disc brakes. Our rear axle includes the housing, two cut-to-fit axle shafts, and clutch-style posi center section with 3.70 gear ratio. The rear disc brake kit includes rotors, hats, calipers, weld-on brackets, and hardware.
Please note that we are providing cut-to-fit axles with this kit that the installer will need to cut to 28-1/4" and 32-3/4" lengths. Tips on cutting these axles can be found in the Installation Tips section.
Housing Designed for 67-72 C10 Trucks
This housing is 62" pinion-centered with different length axle tubes, side-to-side. So driveline alignment is much easier. The housing center section is reclaimed with new axle tubes. Housing features trailing arm mounts for easy assembly in your C10 with no modifications.
Tough, Nodular Iron Center Section with Posi Differential
Our Ford 9 Inch Nodular Iron Third Member Center Section Carrier starts with a NEW casting with over 4 lbs. of additional material in critical areas. Nodular (ductile) iron is much more resistant to fracturing than OEM "gray" iron. Extra ribbing reinforces the case and rearmost pinion support (pilot bearing).
This differential has performed well in our Week to Wicked 1952 Chevy Truck, handling the job of transferring a 430 HP GM Performance LS3 to the ground.
Our clutch-style posi differential gives you maximum traction. Based on the original limited-slip designs of the OEMs, these differential units provide the added benefits of experience over millions of miles and decades of proven reliability. A clutch-style operation means no clicking around corners and our posis feature heat-treated spider gears in a forged steel case. We've taken this posi to the next step in performance with increased clutch pressure and holding power, suiting it well for heavy-duty street car applications.
Hand-assembled by trained experts in-house, our Ford 9-inch third members are built from quality components with an exact step-by-step process. We bring this combination of precision assembly and quality components to you at a price that can't be beat. We trust these third members so much, they're the go-to choice for our own rides, from the street to the track
Forged Steel Axles
Our improved axle housings deserve equally strong axles to drive your classic truck. Two cut-to-fit axles have the strength to handle the horsepower. Axles are 31-spline, with pressed-on bearings and include axle shafts, axle bearings, axle seals, and bearing retainers. Flanges are drilled for three wheel bolt patterns 5 on 4-1/2", 5 on 4-3/4", and 5 on 5". Axles must be cut to 28-1/4" and 32-3/4" lengths by the installer.
Important Installation Note: The included spacer plates (Qty. 2, Part #91031981.3) must be installed. Failure to use the spacer plates can create a gap that may cause the axle bearing retainer to bend during tightening.
Rear Disc Brakes
Our complete axle kit includes brand-new disc brakes for your truck. Features GM calipers with 2.75" piston size which will help bring that pickup to a stop. 11.75" vented rotors are 0.81" thick to help cool the brakes and provide fade-free braking performance. Complete with rotors, hats, calipers (7/16"-20 inlets), brackets, brake pads, caliper brackets, and slider bolts.

Good price but not the perfect kit.

Wheel lugs it comes with don't match the same size as the front lugs on a 1972 Chevy C10 two-wheel drive. Also, you have to weld on the brake brackets when there are plenty of bolt-on kits out there. Good kit overall but if I did it again I would just buy the rear end and third member and then get the brake kit separately from somewhere else.

I would buy again

Delivery was fast. Did find that the kit was missing a important part. Called speedway techs they agreed that was a important part missing and were going to work on getting it added to the kit. Instructions are a lil bit lacking but still a great product

Things that would have been good to know: -Additional parts you need: Brake lines, brake line brackets, third member hardware, rtv to seal the third member in place, 1/8" axle bearing retainer spacer, adjustable proportioning valve -brake brackets should be welded in with the calipers facing front or back (I mounted mine up at a 45 degree angle and it was close to touching my bed) -Overall width matches the early 67-70, as opposed to the wider 71-72 rear -the brakes are so good that I was locking up the rears before my Wilwood D52 fronts.
