Intake Manifold

Offenhauser Triple Carb intake manifolds provide a nostalgic appearance while equalizing fuel distribution to all cylinders, improving both performance and economy. With this lightweight cast aluminum manifold, your old "Stovebolt" will be more responsive across the RPM range. Use with three carburetors (2-5/8" bolt centers) typical of 1937-52 Chevys.

  • Fits 216, 235 Chevy 6-cylinders
  • 1937-52 engines w/ Manual Transmission

Included linkage kit is "non-progressive," meaning all three carbs operate at the same time.

 Carburetors

Speedway Motors now offers a reproduction version of one of the most popular carburetors ever used, the original Stromberg 97! Original equipment on 30s and 40s cars and trucks, the Stromberg 97 has long been favored by flathead hot rodders and racers who realized the performance qualities of this timeless fuel supplier.

There have been numerous attempts to reproduce this unit, with little success. "Speedy" Bill Smith of Speedway Motors in Lincoln, Nebraska, took on the challenge to make a great product even better. The 9 Super 7® Carb brings this reproduction of the original Stromberg 97 2 barrel carb into the 21st Century!

Speedway Motors has incorporated all of the improvements shown above while maintaining the carburetors original look. Features such as the choke assembly, accelerator pumpmain jets and cosmetics have all been faithfully retained. Additionally, each carburetor is individually flow tested and inspected for leaks. Perfection is the result!

Aesthetically, the 9 Super 7® is nearly identical to the stock unit, minus the large 97 logo that appeared on the side and the patent numbers found on the float bowl area. Upgraded internal parts include; the float, needle, and seat. Jetting and power valve settings remain as they were for the original 97 carbs as well as the cfm and vacuum specs.

The other similarity that the 9 Super 7® shares with the original 97 is the setup and tuning necessary to yield a well-running machine. While perhaps not as simple as bolting on a single four-barrel, the 9 Super 7® makes setting up a multiple carburetor induction system easier than when Strombergs were available new. All thats required is an intake, a linkage system, a Uni-Syn syncing tool, and a little patience. Our 3 Carb kits come with one primary carburetor and two secondary carburetors while the 2 Carb kits are both primary carbs.  See our Multiple Carburetor Tech Tip for more information on using the 9 Super 7® in a 2x2 or 3x2 carb tri power set-up.

On the primary 9 Super 7® carb the throttle shaft extends from carb body .983" and has the hole on the end to pin the linkage. There is a brass sleeve that the throttle shaft rotates in that extends from the carb body .400 and this leaves the useable throttle shaft length of .583. There is sufficient room for progressive linkage and the manual throttle linkage that rotates over the sleeve.

  • Three Deuce carburetor setups come with two "secondary" carbs for front and rear intake position and one "primary" carb for central/middle position
  • All-new tooling for crisp, flawless castings
  • New aluminum base assembly allows for cooler fuel temps and better fuel efficiency as compared to the original cast iron design
  • Stainless steel screws and hardware
  • Features original Stromberg 0.97" venturi diameter
  • Modern Nitrophyl float and Neoprene gaskets
  • Original troublesome needle and seat replaced by a Grose-style fuel inlet valve to better cope with higher fuel pressures and improved high speed running
  • Will not stick or dribble like the old Viton-tipped needle and seat setups
  • Grose-style jet valve wont corrode in modern fuel, something the original needle and seat units cant do
  • Comes with a No. 65 power valve and 0.045" main jets, identical to the stock 97
  • Extended brass throttle shaft to simplify multi-carb linkage
  • Primary Carb - (1) Middle Position
    • Choke assembly, accelerator pump, and jets have all been faithfully retained and accept standard Stromberg parts
  • Secondary Carb - (2) Front and Rear Position
    • Special base plate with no idle circuits or choke linkage
    • Special butterflies and shafts installed
    • Works best with progressive linkage
    • Idle only off the center or main carburetor
    • No more plug foul

Note: The secondary carbs have NO choke, and they have NO idle system. Not recommended for use with Ethanol fuels.

 Linkage Kit

This universal progressive throttle linkage kit is designed to work with Ford/Holley 94's and Stromberg 97's carbs. It can be slightly modified to also work with Rochester 2G/2Gc applications (the linkage arms must be drilled for the larger diameter shafts). The arms are drilled with numerous holes allowing you to adjust the opening rate (ratio) of the secondary carbs.

Maximum center to center of long shaft is 11-3/8" and maximum of short shaft is 7". Works great on Y-Block Ford, Chevy small block, Ford Flathead V8, Chevy W-Series, Pontiac Tri-Power, vintage Cadillac/Oldsmobile J2, and more! This mechanical accelerator linkage can be used for either two 2-barrel (2x2) or three 2-barrel (3x2) carburetor applications.

 Adapter Kit

You've asked for it and here it is. No more scouring the junkyards to round out the new 2 or 3 carb setup on your Chevy 6. This kit comes complete with mounting hardware and gaskets.

  • (3) 1936-1962 GM L6 carb flange to 3-bolt, 2-barrel carburetor
  • Cast aluminum
  • Precision Machined
  • 1 barrel bore measures 1.556" with the 'small pattern' 2.675" (2-9/16") center to center bolt spacing
  • Includes nine studs, nine stainless steel washers, and nine stainless steel fiber lock nuts - enough for three carbs
  • (3) Three-bolt carburetor base gasket, fits Stromberg 97, Speedway 9 Super 7®, and Holley 94 carbs
  • (3) Fel-Pro 2-Bolt Carburetor base gasket for 216/235 CI Engines

 Headers

The 216/235/261 Chevy Six was built from 1937-1962 in cars and trucks. Our tube steel headers allow you to run a split exhaust. If you wish to run exhaust heat to your intake manifold, these headers include welded-on bungs which can be used to pipe heat to your intake manifold. Includes manifold gaskets, collector gaskets, flanges for the dump tubes, and all hardware.

  • 2" outlets
  • 1-3/4" and 2" primary tubes
  • 7/16" thick head flanges

 Manifold Heat Kit

When converting to tube headers or cast Fenton manifolds, pre-heating can lead to hesitation. This manifold heat kit eliminates the problem and helps your ride run as good as it looks.

  • A must-have when converting to tube headers or cast Fenton manifolds
  • Replace much-needed intake pre-heating to eliminate hesitation and dead spots
  • Includes all required hardware, tube, fittings, and gaskets
  • Early kit includes both 216 & 235/261 style gaskets
