SOLID, SAFE way to space a wheel from hub

These torque down to the rotor/hub and nuts are below mating surface of wheel-to-adaptor using nice acorn nuts. Then you torque the wheel down to the spacer as normal. On my '47 Ford I installed the Speedway disc brake conversion with flat steering arms and the passenger side arm contacted the back of the tire. These solved the problem while at the same time moving the wheels out closer to the fender wheel opening which improved the look and sit of the front end. Bonus is that the front wheel track is now wider for better handling.
