ATK Engines HPDFDA Details

ATK’s HPDFDA is a remanufactured Ford Modular 5.4L (2008–2010) SOHC crate engine built specifically as a VVT lock-out replacement. ATK tears the engine down and remanufactures it using a consistent process: the heads, block, crankshaft, and camshaft are machined as needed, wear parts are replaced, and the finished long block is tested for compression, oil pressure, and a sealed water jacket to help ensure it’s ready for service.

This engine ships assembled with key install pieces already in place—most notably the phaser (VVT) lockout kit, plus the timing cover and oil pan installed. It’s designed for applications using 12mm thread spark plugs (brown boot noted), and references timing cover casting numbers 5C3E / 3R2E / 5C3Z. Note that it’s a long-block style offering: cylinder heads are included, but major accessories and top-end components like the intake manifold, water pump, valve covers, balancer, flexplate/flywheel, ignition components, and electronics are not included. It also notes a DOD/phaser lockout setup and includes a handheld tuner to disable that function in the vehicle.
