Want to see a LIVE install of this subframe? Follow along as we team up with Car Craft to transform a 1967 Chevy II into a gasser in just 5 days. Week to Wicked starts August 12th, 2019 - follow the build here.
This kit will give your Chevy II Nova that 60s nose in the air look while still allowing it to be driven comfortably and safely on the street. No cutting or grinding is necessary with these gasser subframes for your 1962-67 Chevy II Nova. These direct, bolt-in front ends use all the same stock holes that held the original IFS subframe, which includes sturdy upper firewall support tubes from the subframe rails. This adds strength to the subframe structure and supports the 8-bolts that hold the lower rails to the “chassis”. The firewall support tubes bolt directly to the firewall using existing factory holes. These leaf-spring suspensions include everything you'll need to install it into a stock Chevy II Nova chassis in a weekend.

Cheaped out on hardware and vague instru
I bought this kit to go under my Chevy II and it bolted right on. It did take more than one weekend, but that was expected. I like the kit overall, but the hardware than comes with it is very cheap, grade 5 bolts and nylon lock nuts. I upgraded to grade 8 and metal lock nuts, plus some bolts were missing, on one of the u-bolts broke before it was even torqued down. The instructions aren't very clear and there are few helpful pictures. Overall a fair kit for the money, just be aware that the bolts are cheap and the instructions are vague.

Can send parts that I believe are garbage cheaper to get new springs made, Too much to send back and wait for replacement one. Probably just as bad as ones that came with front end.

The gasser kit is good, I put it on my 63 chevy ii drag car. It should be noted that everything is really heavy duty and seems pretty heavy. The leaf springs are definitely stiff enough for a big block, I ended up removing two leafs for a lightweight smallblock. Also the straight axle is good but it makes the car sit up high enough to where you dont have to radius the rear quarters for big tires, since I have radiused fenders I ended up swapping it for a 4" drop axle from speedway. The last picture included is with the dropped axle

This is a strong well designed kit to turn your Chevy II into a straight front axle gasser. It removes a lot of weight, and is a streetable unit. We will be using this vehicle for both street and strip, and it is designed so a SBC will fit right in. I'm impressed with the workmanship.

Its a good kit, making it from scratch would be a lot harder I would think. The instructions for the kit and brake kit are mostly useless and are kind of vague. also if you cant weld yourself beware, I cant weld so I had to find a mobile welder and that didn't work because they all wanted an arm and a leg to do 12" of weld. I was lucky to find a close to home welder that fixed me up nice for a reasonable price. Some hardware was missing but customer service did help with that on my first call, the other three times I just went to store. I think a video of someone putting this kit together would make a huge difference, especially for a person who has not been wrenching for many years, I used a lot of the pictures from the hotrod magazine article. I don't know if I would do it again but well see how it performs on the road, im currently not done the rest of the car but I hope it all works out.

This is a well engineered kit and everything bolts up without issues! Only improvement would be to ensure all the right parts and pieces of hardware are included, had to go to the hardware store to pick up quite a few misc. fasteners.
