Wire Your Hot Rod, truck, or Muscle Car Like a Pro with Our 12 Circuit Wiring Harness

Classic muscle cars and hot rods are often sidelined with electrical issues mainly due to decades old crumbling wiring that has been patched and cut and spliced together over the years. Flickering lights, hard starting, inaccurate, or inoperable dash gauges and more are problems that can often be solved with an overhaul of the vehicle’s wiring system. Ditching that spaghetti under your dashboard and that ancient Bakelite fuse box that uses glass fuses is the fastest way to make your classic a reliable, and fun, ride you’ll want to take out every weekend instead of dreading those wiring issues every time you twist the key.

Our universal 12 circuit wiring harness is a great solution for classic vehicles, kit cars, replicas, and race cars that need minimal wiring circuits. With 12 circuits the Speedway wiring harness covers the essentials like ignition, lighting, horn, wipers, gauges, and AC/heat to ensure you have what you need to make your project road legal. Perfect for T-buckets, hot rods, muscle cars and other applications where you’re not running modern power accessories like windows and door locks along with big audio systems, electric fuel pumps, and other items usually found on restomod or pro touring type of builds. The compact mini fuse block (which uses APM/ATM spec mini fuses you can find at any auto parts store) can mount just about anywhere under the dash or on the firewall.

Plug-and-Play with Popular GM Tilt Columns, Including Factory and Aftermarket Versions

Wiring up the steering column controls can be a daunting task, but our harness makes it easy. This harness plugs directly into most GM-style tilt steering columns. It connects to aftermarket tilt columns from ididit, Flaming River, or Speedway Motors, as well as factory GM tilt columns from 1968-1996 cars, trucks and vans (see our full list of compatible GM columns. If you're sourcing a column from the junkyard, look for one with a flat "ribbon" plug, either 3-7/8-inch or 4-1/4-inch long (with 10 or more wires). Ignition switch plugs to connect "keyed" GM columns are also included in this kit.

Not using a GM tilt column? No problem. This harness easily splices into other steering columns with the included pin-out wiring diagram (it helps to have a wiring schematic for your vehicle here, too). We include the proper wiring connectors for the GM column mounted ignition switch, but these can be used for a dash mounted ignition switch using the included wiring diagrams. Headlight pigtails and other connectors are included as well to ensure your installation is completed without drama.

Modern High-Quality Automotive Grade Insulated Wire Labeled Every Six Inches

Patches and splicing are tedious and unreliable. Your car deserves better! Start fresh with modern polyethylene-insulated, stranded bare copper wire. Each harness is constructed from premium quality GXL automotive wiring, with the appropriate wire diameter for each fused circuit (ranging 8 to 16 gauge). Every strand of this wire harness is covered with a high-temperature (-40°F to +257°F) outer coating, color coded using standard GM wire circuit colors and labeled every six inches with the circuit name to aid in a smooth installation for any DIY enthusiast. In other words, you can expect the same quality of automotive wiring used by the big three OE manufacturers.

Modular Design Fuse Block with Modern Fuses for Easy Servicing

An innovative two-piece fuse block design gives easy service, fuse replacement, and endless mounting solutions. Mount the baseplate and then clip in the fuse block assembly. The clip-in fuse block detaches easily for service and arrives complete with modern APM/ATM spec "mini" blade fuses and a common two-terminal style flasher for both turn signals and hazard warning lights. No more fragile, corroded glass fuses! Crimp connectors, terminals, zip ties, a firewall grommet, and more are included to get you started right away. Of course we have all the electrical accessories you could need for a full wiring harness replacement, or take a look at our 12 circuit wiring harness installation kits, which feature everything you need for a successful harness installation.

Conveniently Bundled Wires Makes Harness Routing and Installation Stress Free

This compact universal hot rod wiring harness works with nearly any 12-volt vehicle, engine, and transmission combination (carb or EFI, automatic or manual), including engine swaps and is the perfect solution for vehicles with no reproduction harness options, custom builds, or the budget-minded DIY builder. The harness consists of four branches that are strategically bundled to simplify installation. These pre-sorted wire bundles (front of vehicle/engine feed, dash, ignition/lights, and rear of vehicle) help the first time wire harness installer make the installation go smoothly, taking a lot of the guess work out of wire routing. The 12-foot-long taillight leads allow easy connection in most compact and mid-size vehicles. Wagons and pickup trucks may require extending the taillight leads with additional wire of the same gauge size. The Speedway 12 circuit wiring harness includes a 5-page instruction book with color diagrams, covering each of the pre-bundled circuits in detail. Simply route your harness as needed, make your connections, bundle, and wrap your finished harness and be amazed at just how dependable your ride is now with updated wiring.

Installation Tip: No mounting bracket is provided, so a custom mounting method is required. Make sure any hardware used does not contact internal terminals or wiring. The back of the fuse block can be removed from the base unit (see photos above). By detaching the back unit, you can position and secure it as needed for installation, then reattach the fuse block assembly to the base unit.

No hesitation needed

I was hesitant on buying this setup for all the wrong reasons. I used it to rewire a '66 Barracuda. Although it's primarily oriented towards the GM platforms it works great for anything I could imagine wiring. Plenty of wire for all the of accessories, for my application at least. The instructions are up to par also. There are references and guides for the Ford and Mopar applications as well which is helpful. As long as you're competent with electrical knowledge and have some patience this is a fantastic kit for an even better price.

Be prepared

The main wire feeding into the system had a small section of bare wire where the insulation was trimmed back too far at the attaching point in the fuse block. I called about this, and a new harness was sent. I was assured it would be thoroughly inspected, but it had the exact same problem. I called tech support, and they said to blob a bit of RTV on the bare section. So it turns out I have to take the brand new, nearly $200 (at the time) harness and fix it myself. I'm used to fabricating, but I had hoped to save some time on the wiring, but here I am patching up a brand new piece. Not to mention the time spent shipping things back and forth, and the hours spent on hold trying to reach a human at Speedway.

If you're classic is as important to you and mine is to me, don't settle for a cheezy, low-cost wiring harness. Invest in a good one from Speedway and be confindent of the quality. They always deliver!

The harness is of decent quality and wires are well marked. The instrument sheets are very incomplete and without the help of the internet, I was stumped. Thankfully, I found out there is a more complete set of instructions that can be downloaded and they answered my unanswered questions. Why aren't these in the box? Also, be prepared to buy alot of butt connectors, and other wiring connectors as those supplied are garbage and too small for much of the wiring sizes. Over all, it all worked, but don't expect to completely wire your project in an easy weekend. At least the first time around. All said, I would buy again, but now I know.

We have used Speedway harness many times. They are always easy to use and have everything we need. Usually we get the 22 but this car is more original and less flashy so the 12 was plenty. Instructions are clear and of course tech line is helpful if needed.

This universal 12-circuit wiring harness has been a great addition to my garage. Everything is clearly labeled, which makes routing and connecting wires straightforward even if you're not an expert. The instructions are easy to follow and written in a way that's simple to understand, so the whole install process feels organized rather than overwhelming. The overall layout and design are clean and intuitive. One nice thing is that you don't need to use all of the accessory options for the harness to work properly. It gives you flexibility to only hook up what you actually need without complicating the setup. The only slightly confusing part at first was the turn signal indicator wiring, but once you look it over, it's actually very simple and makes sense within the system. Overall, this harness is well thought out and very user-friendly. Its simple, efficient design has made it reliable enough that it's now being used on all the cars in my garage. For anyone looking for an easy-to-use, clearly labeled wiring solution, this harness is a solid choice.

I'm using it in my 87 s10 lsx project. The truck needed a new harness for a piece of mind. Also, the instructions are easy to understand and does take some thinking when wiring certain things in the vehicle. But overall, well worth the money and was at a good price.

I installed this on my custom LS swap project 1988 Nissan Sentra. I made the mistake of forgetting to include my own ACC and IGN relays so I had to add those after the fact. I started completely from scratch for wiring on my car. If I could change anything about this kit I would add a wiring diagram that shows which wires connect to what circuits inside the fuse box. The ignition wiring confused me a little bit. This is a great compact bare bones kit that will work well for certain projects.
