What's in the Box

These S/B Chevy Clipster headers are for 1964-87 GM A*, F* and G-Body cars and fit many street rod applications with uni-body front clip suspensions. Clipster headers use longer primaries than Tight Tucks, yet shorter than full length headers. Collectors exit toward the rear of the engine compartment providing excellent ground clearance on "slammed" applications as well as clearing steering and suspension components.

1-5/8" primaries and 3" collectors. Fits straight or angle plug heads.

Header Sizing Chart (GIF)

WARNING: This header will require the use of Autolite 'short' style spark plugs OR NGK BR8ECM type plugs to be used for clearance purposes.  No other plugs or shorty plugs offered other than Autolite branded 'shorty' plugs will clear. 

Application

Applications include, but not limited to:

  • 1967-1981 Camaro
  • 1964-1981 Chevelle, Malibu
  • 1964-1988 El Camino
  • 1968-1979 Nova
  • 1970-1988 Monte Carlo

Notes

  1. Works with angle plug heads.
  2. Will not work with D-port heads.
  3. May interfere with mechanical clutch linkage (substitute headers 930-0109).
  4. If fitting on an early A-Body, #5 primary tube may interfere with steering shaft. Some 'massaging' may be required.
  5. Will not fit with Saginaw Close Ratio 825 Steering Box.
  6. Does not fit 1967-69 Camaro with A/C.
  7. Will fit Detroit Speed & Engineering front subframes with rack and pinion steering.

These S/B Chevy headers are a shorty design that give maximum ground clearance and work with floor-shift manual transmissions only. Features 1-5/8" primary tubes and 3" collectors. Built with surface machined thick steel flanges for a great seal and mandrel bent mild steel tubing.

Headers come with installation hardware, collector reducers, gaskets and instructions.  

  • 1968-87 Camaro, Chevelle, Malibu and El Camino
  • Must use non-shell style motor mounts
  • Manual Transmissions Only

These S/B Chevy headers are a shorty design that give maximum ground clearance and work with floor-shift manual transmissions only. Features 1-5/8" primary tubes and 3" collectors. Built with surface machined thick steel flanges for a great seal and mandrel bent mild steel tubing.

Available with metallic ceramic coating. Unlike paint or chrome, metallic ceramic coating is easy to keep clean, resists rust and corrosion and will not discolor. Metallic ceramic coating also reduces underhood temperatures.

Headers come with installation hardware, collector reducers, gaskets and instructions.

Chrome Warning: Due to a revised chroming process brought on by recent EPA regulations and high labor costs, today's chrome is not the quality of days gone by. Be Aware: Exhaust components which are chrome plated are now much more susceptible to blueing, blistering, peeling & corrosion. No warranty or returns on chrome exhaust items once them have been installed.

NOTE: Stainless header tubing when exposed to exhaust temperature will cause the finish to change color which will vary with the exhaust temperature. Please note that the finish of the header when the engine is started, will change to a light champagne color to a darker gold finish and in some instance may even turn dark blue or purple. This can be polished back out when utilizing Blue-away or Simi-chrome polish, but please note that when the headers reach running temperature again, they will immediately change color.
