Keep Your LS Swap Build Cool Using Our Universal Fit Double Pass Aluminum Radiator

The LS engine has found its way under the hood of just about every make and model you can think of since it became the darling of the engine swap world. Compact, powerful, tons of upgrade and performance options, and most of all, easy on the wallet, the LS swap has become common place. The more interesting swaps require a little planning and fabrication to pull off a successful swap, but they quite often turn the most heads and are often the most talked about vehicles at a show.

The thing is the LS cooling system can be a head scratcher for some. More so than fabricating a set of motor mounts even. The cooling system utilizes a surge tank setup and two or four steam port outlets from the cylinder heads. This complicates the cooling system design and often leads to overheating issues due to not fully understanding how the LS cooling system works in an LS swap environment. Our WindChill® 3-core LS swap radiator takes the guesswork out of building the proper LS swap cooling system for your build.

Three Row Core for Increased Thermal Transfer and Greater Coolant Capacity

If two rows of 1-inch cooling tubes are good, three rows of cooling tubes are better, right? Not always, but it can be. Just adding a third row or “core” to a two core radiator can often increase the thickness of the radiator core to the point there are fitment issues in the vehicle, or the core thickness becomes too much for the typical electric or engine driven fan to pull air through, negating the benefit of the additional core tube. Our WindChill® three core radiators use .790-inch core tubes, so our three row radiator is only 7/16-inch thicker, yet has a 17 percent increase in coolant capacity. The additional coolant tube in our three row radiators also provides more thermal transfer to the cooling fins that surround the core tubes, providing better cooling with minimal additional core thickness. It is the best solution for increased coolant capacity and thermal transfer efficiency without causing fitment issues in most installations.

Crafted from aluminum with 3.49-inch thick by 2.63-inch wide OE-like stamped end tanks for the best heat transfer and the lightest weight, our three core universal LS swap radiators are completely furnace brazed for a long life in your LS equipped ride. No epoxy to crack and fail, no O-ring gasketed end tanks to leak. Just quality build construction that will last. Each radiator is ready for your LS swap cooling system needs with LS specific inlet and outlet radiator hose fittings, sized at 1.25-inch and 1.50-inch respectively, on the passenger side tank utilizing a dual pass crossflow design.

Additionally, each LS radiator is fitted with a 1/8-inch NPT weld-in bung for your LS steam port lines and a 3/8-inch NPT weld-in bung for use with an optional electric cooling fan temperature sensor. Placing the steam port fitting in the radiator end tank means there is no need to run a LS swap radiator hose adapter for your steam lines and cut up your radiator hoses. A standard internal transmission cooler is included and connects to your transmission cooler lines via 1/2-20 inverted flare fittings or can be converted to AN -6 fittings for use with aftermarket AN transmission cooler line kits.

Available in Three Widths to Fit Most LS Swapped Vehicles

We offer our universal LS swap aluminum radiator in three overall widths to provide multiple options for just about any vehicle that can be LS swapped. These overall widths provide maximum airflow for the available core support mounting space you have to work with in your vehicle. Our universal LS swap radiator can be had in 28-inch, 31-inch, and 33-inch overall widths, all with an overall height of 19.25 inches. These three widths allow you to choose the maximum core width that will fit your application. Or, if you’re fabricating a tubular front end or other custom engine bay work, you can use these measurements to build out your project’s front end/radiator support opening for the best possible radiator fit. In some applications our universal radiator mounts may be a great installation solution.

Lastly, our WindChill® universal LS radiator features a strong billet aluminum radiator neck that utilizes industry standard 1-5/8-inch radiator caps and includes a pre-installed 1/4-inch hose barb fitting for use with an overflow tank of your choice to help you create the right LS swap cooling system for your project.

I understand it's a universal radiator and looking at the specs given I thought it might fit my 69 C20 pickup. After receiving the radiator I could see that without major modifications that there is no way it would even come close to fitting. Excellent price wished it would have worked for my application If there would have been specs listing the core size itself I probably would have passed. Should have done more due diligence on my end.
