Overall Assessment

This product, a shock mount, is widely acclaimed for its fitting convenience in various models of vintage cars, like a '39 Ford, '46 Ford, a 1950 Chevy truck, and a '34 Chevy with a Camaro rear end. It's also praised for being heavy-duty, which bolsters its sustainability and robustness. Users have found it ideal for installing new gas shocks or coil over shocks, highlighting its versatility and functionality. The easy installation process facilitated by this product has saved customers significant fabrication time. However, some customers mention a nuanced drawback related to mounting due to the placement of holes, recommending welding as the best installation method. The overall quality, ease of use, and consistent performance have led customers to rate it highly and recommend it over competitors.

Upper Rear Shock Mounts

My 34 Chevy has a camaro rear end, and no shocks had ever been installed. These mounts made it quick and efficient. Anyone can install.

SOME DRAWBACKS

Somewhat disappointed with this mount. The two smaller holes for mounting are placed in such a way that a bolt cannot be placed through from the tube side of the mount. They would either have to be welded on, or bolts inserted through the flat back side with nuts, in which the one nut cannot be used because of the close proximity of the mounting hole next to the vertical shoulder of the mount itself. If you must use them, welding them on is probably your best option. Also, don't expect the extended part of the tube to slide into a coil over bushing,,,it's way too big. I don't believe they were intended to mount that way but I wonder what the extended part of the mount is for.

So how can these be used on a stock Model A frame? Are they meant to be used in the bolt holes on the rear crossmember for the rear bumper mount? I'm confused. Since there are two holes should they be mounted on the inside hole or the outside hole? Or does it matter?

What are the dimensions. I am installing tube shocks on my 46 Ford coupe and want to use the cross member that is already there. I have a gap of 2 1/2 from the cross member to the edge of the shock.
