Increase Low-End Torque and Throttle Response by Adding an Exhaust Crossover

Dual exhaust applications can see a nice bump in low-end torque and better throttle responsiveness when a crossover pipe, or “X-pipe” is installed. This is because the X-style exhaust crossover pipe provides equalization to the exhaust pressure pulses coming from the manifolds or headers. This exhaust pulse scavenging is what helps with the throttle response and torque improvements. X-pipes are also known to create a slightly raspier exhaust note overall versus the old standard H-pipe crossover. The typical X-pipe exhaust system installation will often net a 5-15 horsepower increase, which is usually seen further up the tach than the standard H-pipe power range.

Crafted from .065-inch wall mild steel, our universal X-pipe crossover kit features pre-welded center X assembly that acts as the merged exhaust crossover pipe section. This X-pipe exhaust system center assembly includes expanded openings to allow the installation of the included 45-degree angled exhaust pipes for a weld-free assembly using the included exhaust clamps. The four 45-degree pipes included are designed to provide plenty of pipe length (14 inches on the long end, 6 inches on the short end) for proper placement of the universal X-pipe crossover section. These four pipes are designed to be cut to length on either or both ends as needed to build a custom X-pipe crossover exhaust assembly and as such are not made with expanded ends for slip fit assembly to your existing exhaust system. Once the four pipes are fitted/cut to length you have the option of either welding the assembly into your existing exhaust, or expanding the pipe ends with an exhaust pipe expander and securing with the included clamps.
