Note: GM columns measure slightly less than 1" while IDIDIT and Flaming River columns measure a true 1". DO NOT interchange these u-joints.

Application
STEP 1
Be sure to measure the diameter of the shaft and count the number of splines on the shaft. Some shafts have a blank spot ground on one side. To get the correct number of splines, use a flat edge and cover the blank half of the shaft through the diameter and count the splines on the other half. Multiply that number by 2, thus giving you the total number of splines on the full circumference of the shaft.
STEP 2
Choose which shaft type best suits your application: 3/4" weld on, 3/4" DD or 1" DD.

With these two pieces of information at hand, refer to our chart to find the appropriate part number of the u-joint for your specific application.

Very well made double d steering joint
I purchased the double d steering joint for use on my 1953 Chevy 5 window pickup project. It fit perfectly on my original double d shaft and after I used my 4 & 1/2 inch grinder to make a double d slot on the original other round end of the shaft it fit perfectly. After tightening up the set screws applying locktite it's good to go:)

Sorry ,just being honest. Since it was a bit cheaper I bought it and found it be inferior ,did not swivel well, poor machining. Usually I Always buy Bergeson steering components steering is too critical to buy cheap.. Gene
