fixable
Nice piece BUT the 3" radius was too wide for my 8" rear. Easy fix,,, I made relief cuts on the sides, squeezed the metal in my vice, welded together.. LIKE A GLOVE! Thought drilling the 1/2" holes to 5/8" would remove too much meat but was happily surprised to see not the case. I would buy them again and i did because being my first build of this type, I am learning. And I learned that this piece works as is or better with a little tweaking.

1/2 holes become too close together
Bought these thinking I could ream holes to the 5/8" needed for Speedway's coil over stud.. HOWEVER the 1/2" holes are too close and the material in between 3 holes becomes too thin. Why they don't make these for 5/8" stud is a question I do not understand as they sell a nice bind free one that compliments the pair if it only fit.

Mounting question I have seen rear truck axels with the shocks mounted on opposite sides - one in front of axel and one at back of axel (typically Chev/GMC). I have seen other trucks with both shocks either in front or the back. Is there a an advantage for either format when using this part? I have a 46 Chev pickup with a '71 Nova rear axel.

Use with kit # 91649060 Can this mount be used to relocate the coilovers in your rear suspension kit (91649060) under the axle as opposed to on the top of the axle like the instructions show. Will I need to purchase a different axle mount (batwing) to lower the hairpins as well.
