Brake switch is closed at resting position and is open when the lever is moved. This switch would need to be mounted so pressure is applied to the switch arm to open the circuit to turn off the brake lights. When the brake pedal is depressed, the arm is released to close the circuit to turn on the brake lights. The arm on the switch is spring loaded to return it to the closed postion. Mounts near your brake pedal and the arm can be bent as needed. 42 amp max rating.

works great
Well made, works great, nothing to leak, and easy to wire into your brake lights. Takes a little thinking to design a mounting bracket for your application. After that, just bend the switch arm to fit your pedal.

fragile spotweld where arm connects.
My first one lasted about 600 miles before the weld popped but it was inexpensive so, I just replace as needed. If I were to do it again, I'd opt for a line pressure switch.

Good switch but not easy to install on my car

This was not a bolt-on piece for my car (1962 Ford) so I had to create a bracket. Made from 14ga steel (16ga would have been great too), it connects to the brake pedal support bracket with one large bolt. This lets me be able to rotate it and adjust how it contacts with the brake pedal and when the brake light comes on. This switch is normally closed, while the switch on the brake fluid line that it's replacing is normally open. So what I had to do was mount it so that the brake pedal is pushing on the switch so that it is open and the circuit is broken when the pedal is in the normal position. Then when the pedal is pressed, the the switch closes and the electric circuit is completed. So, overall it was tricky! But the switch is good quality. I did have to bend the arm on the switch to make all this work and it was easy to bend yet still felt strong.

I purchased a double diaphragm brake assembly with a proportioning valve that has one of those weak line pressure brake light switches in it, which when tested did not make brake lights go on until the pedal was half way into the pressure, meaning the car started slowing before the lights came on. I dont believe there's an adjustment with this style of brake light switch. BIG SAFETY CONCERN so I bought this mechanical style for a second time, but I already had one just could not find it aarrrg...

Simple brake light switch that's easy to install. Mount it so when your brake pedal is pushed down the switch is held open by your brake pedal. Then when you press the brake the switch's spring mechanism closes the switch.

Since it's a constantly closed circuit can I use it as a custom 12v disconnect switch to break the 12v going to the torque converter lock up solenoid. If I set it up to break the circuit when I step on the brake pedal. Basically to unlock the converter in 4th gear on a 700R4. Because the floor mounted brake pedal and assist is under the floorboard an there's not enough room for the OEM painless switch to be mounted...
