Brake pad brand guide doesn't make sense. Not knowing future of Speedway, what pad alternatives are available on the market? If I am going to buy this kit, I want to make sure pads will always be available.

these pads came with a hardware kit but no instructions. I can see how the larger metal clip attaches to the pad and is inserted into the caliper piston but cannot figure out what the small rectangular piece is used for. where does it go?
