Today, many enthusiasts pay tribute to these rare and special cars with custom builds that replicate many of these custom touches from the ’60s. Our Thunderbolt-style hood scoop is a great option to help you build that 1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt dream replica, though we admit this reverse teardrop style hood scoop would look great on many different cars!
Crafted from high quality carbon fiber woven mat, our Thunderbolt style reverse teardrop scoop is finished in a high gloss finish that can be left exposed or can easily be painted once bonded to your car’s surface. We recommend the use of panel bonding adhesive or other typical bonding methods used for fiberglass and composite materials. The Thunderbolt hood scoop is sized at 36 inches long, 23.50 inches wide, and 3.25 inches high. The design does not feature the original’s screened rear openings, but they can easily be cut out and replicated using standard wire screen inserts. There are no mounting holes or studs affixed, thus the requirement for bonding. The scoop can be ornamental or easily be made functional by opening the panel it is mounted on using the scoop as a template for the opening.
We offer our reverse teardrop Thunderbolt style hood scoop in traditional fiberglass as well. Both hood scoops are designed for adhesive mounting applications and can be used for street styling or made functional for performance use/racing.
