Give Your LS The Classic Small Block Chevy Look Without Having to Relocate Your Coils
There is no denying the popularity of General Motors’ LS engines. They end up finding their way under the hood of thousands of classic cars and trucks every year, but some owners want their LS swap to be subtle and look the old school part. This is especially true if they’re using an LS-style carbureted intake manifold with a four-barrel carb or throttle-body style EFI system under a classic looking air cleaner.
One issue many LS swap enthusiasts have trouble dealing with when attempting this classic look is what to do with those eight LS coils that are “front and center” on the top of the LS valve covers. One option is to use remote mount coil brackets to hide the coils and run extra-long LS spark plug wires. It works, but it requires extending the coil wiring harness and having the room to mount the coils somewhere (easy on a C10, not so easy on an F-body for example).
An alternative solution is to simply cover the coils, but typical LS coil covers look more like they belong on a space ship than replicating a small block Chevy in a 60s muscle car. No, to really lock in that period SBC look you need to run pre-1987 “perimeter bolt” valve covers. To do that we offer our SBC ls valve cover adapters. These CNC machined aluminum LS valve cover adapters replace your stock LS valve covers yet allow the LS ignition coils to be reinstalled. They provide routing notches for the plug wires and the coil wiring and then you bolt on your favorite pair of small block Chevy perimeter bolt valve covers over everything for a much more period correct look than what LS coil covers can provide.
Your Choice of Polished or Black Finish
Available in polished aluminum or a sleek black powder coat finish, these adapters will look great with just about any valve cover you choose. They are designed to work with the three most popular LS ignition coils and have provisions for PCV/breather connections (remote or inline PCV valve required). Overall height of the adapters is 1-1/2 inches, bringing the standard SBC valve cover total height from cylinder head to top of valve cover at 5 inches.
Installation requires minor rerouting of the ignition wire harness and may require the use of longer spark plug wires depending upon the coil packs being used and final coil pack mounting orientation/wire routing. Additionally, there is no standard provision for oil fill. You must remove one of the SBC valve covers and fill your engine via one of the ½-inch pipe plug openings, or we suggest a LS engine valley cover with built in fill cap or retro-inspired oil fill tube.

Installed these ... Definitely need to consider other stuff when considering buying them... Oil fill, breathers and pcv . Also need a longer plug wire set... Then getting everything under the covers was a little interesting. Plan on a couple hours for the install...
Awesome!

Does anyone know if these adapters are specific to certain ls coils? I would like to use these for a build that has the d581 melco coils. I have looked at a handful of other brand adapters that will not work with my current coils.
