The typical enthusiast tends to be a Jack of all trades sort. They have dabbled in engine work, handled their fair share of brake and suspension projects, and have probably tackled some interior and wiring fun as well. Where things tend to get dicey for many is aft of the flexplate, the transmission and rear axle. Going inside either of these major components for performance updates or even a simple rebuild from a zillion miles of service usually requires special service tools, a manual full of steps and specs, and a hospital-clean like work area. We know many that have tried to rebuild their own transmission or swap out a rear gear only to have to do it again (or third time’s the charm) to get it right if it is ever right again at all.

Sometimes it is best to simply have your transmission rebuilt instead of investing in all the tools and materials to do it yourself, especially if it is a “one and done” proposition and you’re not planning to rebuild transmissions as a side gig or hobby. The problem with this is often finding a solid and reliable shop that will do the work they say they are going to do and in the timeframe you expect. Today these are far and few between, much like a traditional engine machine shop. A Street Friendly Overdrive Transmission That Supports Up To 450 HP

If you’re looking for a solid performing street transmission for your Ford Modular V8 powered classic pickup, muscle car, or hot rod build with the added benefit of overdrive for those long hauls, our 4R70W Street King transmission is the perfect solution to your needs. Our Ford 4R70W transmission features all new internal wear components such as clutch discs, bands, thrust washers, seals, and more. Every 4R70W valve body includes all new electronics along with other shift improvement updates.

Externally, each Ford 4R70W transmission includes a stock steel oil pan. Our Street King 4R70W is compatible with stock Ford PCMs and wiring for plug and play installation or can be controlled via a standalone 4R70W transmission controller and mating harness if you are using a carburetor or aftermarket EFI system. Every transmission goes through a 23-point inspection process on an Axiline transmission dyno before leaving the factory to confirm shifting ability, line pressures, and more so when it lands on your door step you know it’s ready to go.

Our Street King 4R70W transmission uses the standard Ford 28-spline output shaft but note the 4R70W slip yoke is slightly larger than Ford’s standard yoke for the C4/T5/AOD. Simply select the torque converter that best suits your needs, add a transmission dipstick assembly, and you’ll be in business. Of course, if you are building a project from the ground up, you may also need a flexplate, transmission cooler lines, transmission coolertorque converter fasteners and other items as well to complete your installation.

One year manufacturers defect only warranty. Warranty claims are from the date of shipment, not install. Warranty for defects excludes improper installation, cooling, or useage. Torque converter must be replaced, cooler lines flushed, TV cable adjusted (where applicable), MAF cleaned on electronic transmissions, and DTC codes cleared. Mercon V (5) fluid must be used to maintain warranty.

Spoke with the sales rep in depth the day before placing the order, confirming fitment, model, availability, return policy if incorrect etc.. The sales rep answered all of the questions and agreed fitment was correct, but if it was not there would be a " flat fee" of $10 return charge if it did in fact need to be returned due to fitment. The transmission arrived in a timely manner, but as soon as it was opened up I knew it was not the correct one. I called customer support who deferred me to " stellar transmission " in OH who they get them from. Stellar's rep was very helpful and tried to help me return the transmission. SeppdWay's customer support reached out to me and said they would "look into things". After a few days, they reached out stating that I could return the transmission, but I would have to pay $350÷ to ship it back and only once they received the transmission and inspected it to be in " un-used, re-sellable condition would i recieve my partial refund. ( this took 13 days to get to this decision from my initial contract to Speedway's customer support) and if it was not in " un- used, re-sellable " condition, I would recieve no refund and be charged for the return shipping cost. Sales people seem helpful and try to do their " best" but I would recommend having all of your finest details and questions backed up with recording the conversation if you choose to order something other than a generic muffler or similar.
