Convert to External Wastegate And Better Control Your Turbo Boost Pressure
If you’re building a turbocharged combination that’s going to put down some serious horsepower, you’ll quickly become frustrated with the internal wastegate setups on smaller turbos. Not to mention, larger aftermarket turbos do not feature internal wastegates at all. This means that an external wastegate is required. When it comes to external vs internal wastegate function, it is well known that an external wastegate provides better boost control thanks to its ability to quickly swap spring rates. External wastegates also provide more precise tuning ability and reduce boost creep. There is also the flexibility of installation and easier maintenance of the turbo system as well. Obviously, there is a bit more installation involvement, but the extra fabrication and welding are more than worth the benefit of running an external vs internal wastegate.
Available as a 50mm wastegate or 60mm wastegate option, our cast stainless steel turbo wastegate features 2.00-inch V-band inlet and outlet ports. We provide mating V-band flanges and clamps to get you started, just add your own 2.00-inch exhaust tubing to fabricate your inlet and outlet. The black anodized spring cap provides lasting great looks in any engine compartment and provides easy access for spring swaps thanks to its own V-band clamp arrangement. The spring cap provides three boost referencing ports, two on the sides and one on the top. This allows the use of pressure sensors and other boost control hardware in conjunction with the wastegate. Allen plugs and hose barb fittings are included to allow users to plumb boost lines as needed.
