Speedway Motors is proud to introduce our exclusive 3-piece 1979-Up GM Metric midsize spindle. Our advanced engineering techniques allowed for the recreation of an OEM spec spindle in a newly forged, heat-treated steel design that is stronger than the original. The unique three-piece construction provides for fast, convenient and affordable replacement of individual components in the event of a crash. These spindles are IMCA/USMTS/USRA/UMP/Wissota approved for use in competition.
Kit includes spindle, bolt-on steering arm (that is tapered to accept a Metric GM style tie rod end or the adapter stud 916-36055-GM), caliper bracket and necessary hardware. Assembly is required. Choose (L) Left or (R) Right side.
Works great with our 1979-Up GM Metric Front Brake Rotors, bearings, calipers, etc.

Better than factory
I read reviews about how hard it was to ream. I had no problems. Just go slow and use lube. I used pb blaster. It was harder than stock to ream but first night out got tagged in the R/R pushed into the wall and it did not bend! I'm sold!

larger ball joint beware
If you use larger ball joints beware these are extremely hard and nearly impossible to ream with a hand drill. 2 reamers later I have only progressed about 1/8 inch.

How long are the standard steering arms, supplied with this kit? (I see that previously it was said that 5" arms are available as well.) Can the steering arms be switched, side to side? My goal would be to use these for a Pro-Touring car and switch the arms side to side for more Ackerman. Are there any other caliper brackets available for these spindles, at this time?

Do you offer your 3-piece metric spindle kit with the 7 degree taper for the upper ball joint and a 5/8" hole in the arm for a Heim tie-rod? (Long arm for metric car) I saw you do offer the center section in the 7 degree upper taper but I would prefer to order this as a kit than piece meal it all together.

I put these on stockcar 79 cutlass and they fit great but i have noticed that there is nothing for the steering stops on the lower control arms to hit so the tires are rubbing the lower control arm, do you sell something that can prevent this?

Do you offer a steering arm that is not as strong as the one that comes with the kit? Instead of the arm bending, other parts of the steering bend or the bolts sheer off, leaving us with no steering at all. Given that it is a 3 piece design, I expected the arm to still bend when you hit something and to replace that one piece of the assembly, but instead I am shearing the bolts off completely, loosing my steering and having to exit the race. I would prefer a smaller, lighter arm that will bend and allow me to continue the race and then replace the steering arm after the race.
