Overall Assessment

Customers generally praised the product for its old-school aesthetics, easy installation, considerable heft, and functionality. Notably, it fits vintage models effectively while imbuing them with added authenticity. The product also offers an attractive, clean alternative to traditional tube shock, which customers greatly appreciate. However, customers noted adjustments might be tricky to make without modifications. They appreciate the ability to adjust the shock intensity thanks to the high-quality nut-bolt mechanism. Although there were rare instances of mismatched threads in the bolt and nut, overwhelming customer feedback comments on the product's simplicity, practicality, and vintage appeal. Compared to competitor products, ours provides effective damping solutions, even bettering a 'bunny-hopping' issue in a '29 Roadster.

Very simple design, easy to mount and attach to front suspension. Still in mock-up stage now but seem to dampen movement well.

Look Great but Serve Little Purpose other than Appearance

I ordered these primarily for appearance on the front end of a chopped and channeled '30 Ford coupe. They are nicely made, look great, and are extremely heavy duty. The downside is that the big allen bolt that holds the arm to the pivot (with an equally big nylock nut) is not held in place when the shocks are installed, so you have to remove the shocks to put an allen wrench in the head of the bolt to keep it from turning while you tighten the nylock nut......and you will have to tighten it quite often, because the abrasive friction disc quickly wears the soft aluminum, loosening the adjustment and quickly eliminating any friction. Bottom line: Buy them for looks only. They are not particularly effective and very difficult to keep adjusted.

Bought these for my 29 A Jalopy, Easy bolt on. One modification we made eliminates most of the complaints I have seen about this product. First thing we did is drill and tap a hole from the bottom of the base(as when installed). That way when adjustment needs to be made a bolt can be threaded in and tightened, holding the bolt from moving as you adjust the nut. Then loosen or remove set bolt so everything moves freely for normal use.

The perfect solution for my full fendered T Coupe. Keeps the shock behind the fenders for a clean alternative to the traditional tube shock in front of the axle. The only drawback is the adjusting nut on the rear of the shock makes it necessary to remove the unit for the initial adjustment.

Buy the Offenhauser Friction shocks instead, they are easier to adjust and look cooler too.

Would these shocks fit a 1928 Ford Model A without modification to the frame?

I bought a pair of these friction shocks and have no idea how to adjust the locking nut to achieve the best ride comfort. Could I please get some guidance.

Is it possible to flip over the arm of the friction shock? Instead of up (in the picture on the product page) I would like to mount the arm so it is going down. I don't have to worry about the arm interfering with the frame, and I want to minimize the offset between the attachment face and the link that I will attach to the end of the arm.

Hi, I bought a pair of these friction shocks a couple of years ago and have been really happy with them. My problem is, the friction material / discs have worn out. Can you supply new friction discs or do I have to buy new shocks ? Thanks
