Ratings & Reviews

Customers have overall mixed reviews about the distributor under discussion. While some praised its affordability and the ability to tune the advance curve with springs, concerns were raised about various flaws. The product's build quality was highlighted as an issue by several users, with reports of problems like faulty magnetic pickups, incorrect machining, and failure of the oil pump drive. Users often encountered issues concerning the roll pin in high RPM engines, describing it as weak and prone to breaking which disrupts timing. In spite of these issues, some users found the distributor to function effectively once modified with superior parts. Providing improved performance, this distributor is considered an economical alternative to stock or replacement distributors, given minor repairs and alterations.

This is a top quality product but it has a weak gear pin. I tried to change mine and the holes between the shaft and gear do not line up perfectly. I have not figured out how to solve the situation with out drilling out the pin hole to line them up to put in a stronger pin. That's not wise for integrity reasons.

great distributor but has flaws
i put this in my 84 ford ranger my daily driver. it took a few tries to get the advance springs right. it has a couple flaws that can be easily fixed before installation. first time it died on me the pin that holds the distributor gear on sheared off. i put the one from my oe distributor in and fine ever since. the second time it died on me the plate the advance springs attach to broke the welds at the shaft. a little weld and no problems since that. so fix those 2 things and i have no other complaints about this distributor. it works great

use this in my racecar. First off the distributor body is two piece, and was loose when I got it. I had to tighten it down and add loctite. I installed it and got no spark. The magnetic pickup was fualty. I replaced it with the pickup with one from the stock Motorcraft distributor. I then got spark. I got this so I could tune the advance curve with springs.

Why buy a replacement distributor when a billet costs less?

Running stock distributor's at high rpm, wears out the bushings in a few seasons. Easier to replace bushings in a billet, rather than a stock distributor.

Oil pump drive shattered after about 20 minutes of run time. When I compared the distributor to the OEM Ford distributor, there was 1/8" difference in length between the mounting flange and gear. Improper machining led to failure and I'm currently tearing the motor down to see if the motor starved for oil and blew up.
