Product Summary

Universal Fit, 2 psi Pressure Rating, Anodized, Purple

  • A residual valve acts like a one-way valve (check valve) to maintain brake system pressure and eliminate a spongy pedal
  • Straight 3/8"-24 IFF to 1/8" NPT Male Adapters included
  • The valve is installed inline between the master cylinder and disc brake calipers
  • This 2 psi version is used for disc brakes and provides just enough residual pressure to firm up the pedal, yet not too much that the brakes drag

Speedway Motors 9109800 Details

Ever had problems with a spongy pedal or slow, unresponsive brakes? If so, you may need a residual pressure valve installed in your brake line. A residual valve acts like a one-way or check valve to maintain brake system pressure to eliminate the problems of a spongy pedal. This 2 PSI residual valve is installed inline between the master cylinder and disc brake calipers to keep 2 PSI of residual pressure at the caliper after the brake pedal is released. This ensures that you will have a high, firm pedal next time you press the brake pedal.

If your master cylinder is located below the floorboard, installing a 2 PSI residual valve is highly recommended. If your master cylinder is mounted on the firewall, a residual valve is generally not needed because gravity will provide a natural residual pressure within the brake line.

Our residual pressure valve features a distinctive purple anodized finish with 1/8" NPT port at each end. Use 2 PSI residual valves for disc brake applications only.

Kit includes two Residual Valves for systems that are front and rear disc brakes along with brass fittings, 3/8"-24 IFF to 1/8" NPT male.

Overall Assessment

Customers find our product practical for building street rods, emphasizing its quality and usability despite the learning curve. They note the helpfulness of using hydraulic pipe thread sealer. They recommend its usage to others but mention it would be more beneficial if packaged with the product. Despite difficulties faced during installation, the product's quirkiness and robustness outshines competition.

These worked great on our 27 T Roadster build. Nice compact design, kept them close to the frame rails.

I've never put a master cylinder under the floor in any past street rod builds. This is my first. And first for all the problems that come with it. Never heard of a residual value till doing so now. The extra costs and headaches are a lot of trouble just to have a clean firewall. From here on, I'll put the master on the firewall to save in many ways. As for a con to me was. This might sound dump to a lot of folks. But I've never heard of using pipe sealer on break lines. The residual values has NPD threads. Which I've never worked with on break lines. So I was chasing leaks till I was blue in the face. I called for support to find out I needed hydraulic pipe thread sealer. It's very expensive for a small bottle. Don't understand why the company can get together with the pipe thread sealer company to packaging very small tubes like the grease tube's you get with break pad backing to stop squeaking. A very small amount goes far. An it would save trouble for poor guys like me that doesn't have the experience to know it's needed. We're always learning!
