These premium quality big block Chevy (BBC) valve cover gaskets are made with a stainless steel frame sandwiched between durometer-tested neoprene rubber. This eliminates leakage caused by internal pressure fluctuations. Steel core valve cover gaskets won't tear or collapse.

Why counter sunk around bolt holes?
Good quality gaskets seem to seal up but not sure why they seem to be cut out at half the depth around the bolt holes. Seems like that makes them harder to seal.
