Overall Assessment

Customers praise the product's excellent quality and durability, estimating it should last for decades. Although some customers noted needing minor modifications for an optimal fit, the wiper motor generally fits well even in tight spaces, like under the dash of older vehicles. Users appreciated its compatibility with various systems and reported that it operates quietly. Criticisms were directed towards the modern aesthetic of the included knob and the need for hex head screws for easier installation. Despite these, customers found the product practical and recommend its use over competitors due to its superior performance. Overall, customers would purchase it again, signifying the product's high satisfaction rate.

Almost seamless

Bolted straight in, but the aluminium piece that fits the original wiper arm bracket didn't nearly match due to the radius of the cut on the tabs. Took some grinding to make it work. Also the switch doesn't fit the look of the truck at all. Very obviously 90's and up design with a newer style icon/typogrophy on it. The switch body is also not threaded with the same thread as the original so the original bezel fastener cannot be used, which doesn't help the switch clashing with an otherwise original truck. Overall, very handy, nearly bolt on part. Though I'd recommend squinting whenever you look at the switch.

Good design, lousy build quailty.

Fit it on my 48 ford F3. Almost bolted straight in but the tang that drives the wiper did not fit the factory wiper and had to be ground down to work. Otherwise, fit well. Though the wiper switch dial is not period correct and I had to fit an original knob in it's place. However it failed immediately with less than an hour of use. First rain I got caught in and the linkage failed entirely, jamming something internally overcenter. I switched it off but the self return was still on, attempting to return it to rest against the jam. By the time I realized and pulled the fuse, motor was fried. I have still not been able to unjam the linkage from the outside. Based on the feel and the failure, I suspect bushings wore through immediately and flipped a linkage inside, and it remains jammed solid. Perhaps the armature of the motor also seized from the load, who knows. Despite, going on runtime, this being an immediate failure, it of course happened after the warranty expired, leaving me with a paperweight buried in the dash of my truck. Cost optimized junk. Just rebuild a vacuum unit.

Installed in my 1948 F1. I had to file down the cam on the motor in order to fit into my wiper motor adapter. I also had to slightly relocate the wiper switch (1.5" to the left) due to interference with the motor. I would still rate this a good product but included this to alert others of possible issues.

Everything works well. I wish the knob was more vintage looking though.

I usually will stay away from "store brands" even at a significant discount for fear of getting an inferior product, but I've found Speedway products to be comparable in quality. Sometimes Speedway is the only source for products or "combo" kits. This wiper motor is no different. It is almost identical to the name brand (Newport) it replaced and appears to be of similar quality. I did have the same issue other reviewers noted about the aluminum drive gear not fitting in the wiper assembly, but a little bit of filing made quick work of it. I'm very impressed with the motor, and saved over $100 without sacrificing quality. If you are agonizing whether or not to take a chance on "store brands", trust me, Spreedway does not disappoint!

This is a quality part and should last for decades. It's cramped quarters under the dash of my 49 F1 but that's expected. I had to modify (cut and weld) the defroster duct for it to fit above the wiper motor. The knob supplied looked too modern for my pickup but it was easy to modify the original knob to fit. If you're not willing to do these things, you should farm this job out to a shop….and drive a Honda with a warranty. ;-)

I did have to file down the aluminum peace that go's into the transmission. But when you consider it's a 74 year old truck the motor fit nicely.

The adjustment screws would be better if they were hex head so they could be tightened using wrenches rather than the Philips screw head. Was too tight of a space to get even a stubby screw driver in to tighten the adjustment point. I changed it out for a nut and bolt.
