Make Your Toyota 2JZ Swap Easy by Using Our SoloSwap® Mock Up Block

When it comes to engine swaps there's always going to be that one interesting swap that you stumble upon at the cruise night and can appreciate the ingenuity of the swap. Sure, it's easy to drop an LS in almost anything, or keep the engine swap aligned with the brand, you know, the whole "Ford in a Ford" mentality. But there is something to be said about stepping out and doing something that most people will not. One of the interesting swaps that has been growing in popularity, even with domestic muscle cars and hot rods, is the Toyota 2JZ 3.0L inline-six engine. This powerful straight six can be found in the legendary Toyota Supra, as well as several models of Toyota's luxury brand Lexus (SC, GS, and IS 300 models).

Why are these engines so popular? Well, we'll skip the whole Fast & Furious commentary and get right to the heart of the matter. The Toyota 2JZ uses an iron block with a closed deck structure that can take a tremendous amount of boost. It isn't uncommon to find a 2JZ with a big turbo hung off it making four digit horsepower thanks to its bulletproof internals. While being an inline six adds to the engine's overall length (about three inches longer than the typical LS), the narrow inline is a natural in small chassis like hot rods and even drag cars. Of course, they fit right in under the hood of a classic pickup truck like a C10 or those brave enough to drop one in a Chevelle or Mustang and ignore the haters at Cars & Coffee.

Traditionally, building something with an engine that was never meant to be installed in it would require an engine hoist, an actual engine, and a spotter or two keeping things in check while measurements were taken, parts tack welded, and so forth. It's not an easy or quick process, as the engine must go in and out of the engine compartment numerous times. It can be dangerous with a 400 plus pound dressed Toyota 2JZ engine dangling on a chain over your hands (or head!). While this may have been how your father did engine swaps in the past, there is a better, and safer way to mock up that Toyota Supra donor engine in your project, and that is with the Speedway Motors patent pending SoloSwap® steel 2JZ engine block mock up tool.

Laser Cut Steel Plate for Strength, Simplicity, and Easy Storage

Even if you have your Toyota 2JZ engine swap donor all apart down to the bare block, that bare casting is still over one hundred pounds alone to try and roughly move into place to figure out your engine mounts, oil pan clearance, and more on your project. Using replica engines to mock up your 2JZ swap for your project is much safer and your back will thank you for your efforts. We designed our Toyota 2JZ engine block mock up tool around the 1991-2002 production years, which includes the 2JZ GE engine and the coveted 2JZ GTE block. This covers most of the Toyota 2JZ swaps happening today.

Past mock up options included a plastic engine block or foam engine block, which, while being light and easy to maneuver, these plastic engines often did not hold up well to repeated usage or the installation of heavy components like a long tube header or a turbo manifold with turbo bolted to it. They're also not the best option when localized welding and grinding is happening to fab engine mounts/brackets either. Plastic blocks can easily be damaged from grinding or welding sparks. This is why we designed our SoloSwap® Toyota 2JZ mock up block system from laser cut 12-gauge steel with all accessory mounting holes accessible from the back side for simple "nut and bolt" assembly of your accessories for engine mock up. No more thread inserts that work their way out of the foam engine block material or even needing the factory hardware during the mock up phase. Just grab yourself any fastener of the proper length and diameter to install your headers, for example, saving the good installation hardware for final assembly.

Available in Short Block or Long Block Configurations

Furthermore, our SoloSwap® Toyota 2JZ mock up engine block, which is available in 2JZ short block and 2JZ long block options, ships unassembled, saving you shipping costs and storage room when not in use. Simply assemble the mock up pieces following the provided instructions with the fasteners included and your mock up engine block is ready to use in minutes. Our steel mock up block can also be easily disassembled for storage, unlike some steel mock up blocks that utilize folding tabs. Once those tabs are bent over the block stays assembled, taking up much more room. Store your disassembled mock up block wherever it will easily fit, such as under a workbench, on a shelf, or other location that a full size plastic engine block or real engine block wouldn't fit or have the weight capacity to handle (ever try storing a real engine block on a plastic shelf?).

Our SoloSwap® steel Toyota 2JZ mock up engine block weighs in at just 19 pounds for the short block and 30 pounds for the 2JZ long block, making it easy to handle and position all by yourself safely in the engine bay of your project. If you opt for the long block version the included 12-gauge steel cylinder head mimics both the VVTi and non-VVTi models, providing mounting locations for your intake manifold, exhaust manifold or header, and even the twin OHC cam valve cover so you can quickly confirm if you'll have any fitment issues in your engine compartment.

This allows the complete mockup of an assembled and dressed engine, right down to your choice of valve cover, head, and more to confirm fitment, clearances, plumbing, wire routing, and so much more easily. Even if you're just using the short block, you can confirm fitment and engine location by mounting the oil pan, oil pump, water pump, and accessory brackets to our mock up block easily. The transmission bolt pattern supports both factory auto and manual transmissions (or aftermarket manual transmissions with the proper bellhousing). The SoloSwap® short block also accepts all stock and aftermarket 2JZ cylinder heads as well, so feel free to bolt up your actual cylinder head for your mock up duties if you like!

Replicates Popular Toyota and Lexus 2JZ Series Engines for Mock Up Test Fitting

We did all the homework for you when designing our new steel SoloSwap® Toyota 2JZ mock up engine block assembly. We have provided all mounting holes to replicate the engine block and head of the 1991-2002 2JZ GE and 2JZ GTE engine and other aftermarket crate engine offerings based on the OEM engine block. The 3.0L Toyota 2JZ block, besides custom crate engines and performance shop builds, can be found in stock form in such cars as the Toyota Supra, Lexus SC300, GS300, and IS300 and in both NA and turbocharged versions.

Now you can quickly and easily confirm you have enough clearance for radiator cooling fans, power steering rack, fluid reservoirs, and other items commonly found at the front of the engine compartment. So, whether you plan for a sole Toyota 2JZ swap in your home garage, or your hot rod shop is looking for an easier way to make Toyota 2JZ swaps happen in customer's cars, our SoloSwap® bolt together steel 2JZ-GE/GTE mock up engine block will help you get the job done safely and quickly.
