My 1966 Chevelle convertible was cobbled together from swap meet parts and reproduction parts. It had never had back-up lights since I bought it and it would start in any gear. When rewiring the car, I discovered the copper connector pins on the neutral safety switch were broken or missing. A few clicks later, this one was on the way. Now, I have back-up lights and the car only starts in park or neutral. Awesome!

These things seldom fail. The previous owner removed a TH350 transmission and installed a TH700R4. However, he left the original neutral safety switch mounted in the console. I only had the car a couple of months and I usually start the engine while in Park. However, one day, I tried to start the engine from the Neutral position. Wouldn't start. Moved the shift lever to Drive and tried. It started! BAD. So, I ordered a Shiftworks, Neutral Safety switch (for TH2004R and Th700R4 transmissions) from Speedway and now everything is like factory.
