My '62 Chevrolet Heavy Half-Ton Pickup uses a front shock absorber mount that differs from all later models. The later model shock is sold as suitable for the '62 but the shock eye won't fit over the '62 lower mount. The shock bushing is bonded into the eye and must be forcibly removed, leaving a 1.125" s eye that slides over a 5/8" stud. I pressed the bushing into the shock eye with a hydraulic press and mounted the shock with large thick washers on both sides to keep the shock in place on the stud. It worked so well that I will order the bushings at the same time as the next set of shocks.
