I purchased this starter as part of a complete charging and electrical system refresh on my 7.3 PowerStroke. My original starter was still working, but while replacing the alternator, idler pulley, power cables, fuses, and other aging components, I decided to proactively replace the starter as well. (single alternator) The starter performed well when it was first installed. It cranked the engine strongly and gave me no issues initially. Unfortunately, it failed after about one year of use. What's particularly disappointing is that this truck is not driven very much, roughly 200 miles per month, and the starter was installed on a truck with a freshly updated charging system and new power cables. Given the light usage and supporting upgrades, I expected significantly better longevity. Based on my experience, the starter worked well out of the box but did not hold up over time. I cannot recommend it for anyone looking for a long-term, reliable replacement. The 60 day return policy should've been a red flag for me.

Great Starter, Great Service, Great Review

I needed a new starter for my 96 F-250 Diesel and found this one. I ordered one and it was literally at my house the next day unexpectedly by surprise. However, I ordered the 9050 which is for the 7.3 IDI and not the Powerstroke (and yes it does matter getting the correct one.) Obviously it was my mistake getting the wrong part so I called their number and the lady that picked up was super nice and very helpful. She directed me to the tech department and they were super helpful in answering my questions on the differences between the 9050 and 9051. I wanted to know if there was any significant difference between the two parts and they told me that the 9050 would mount incorrectly and damage the flywheel on the Powerstroke. I then ordered the right part for my truck and sent the wrong one back and once again the new one arrived the next day. Both products were package well when they arrived and I was not missing any of the parts for installation. The part fit perfectly on my engine and starts it insanely fast. Very happy with the service and help for correcting my mistake and providing me a great part for my truck, totally recommend.
