The DUI (Davis Unified Ignition) for 1949-1953 Flathead Ford engines is a true ignition system upgrade! This is an all-in-one electronic distributor with an internal coil and module, so no points, spark boxes or external coils are required! Just one 12 volt hot wire is all that is needed to hook up the DUI. Performance is provided by a 50,000 Volt Coil, located inside the cap, and allows you to open up the plug gaps to .055″. The larger plug gap provides a more complete burn of the fuel mixture for increased performance and better gas mileage. Our Dyna-Module, located inside the distributor, has more electronic dwell time built into it which allows the coil to saturate longer, sending a longer duration spark to your plugs. A heavy duty brass terminal cap and rotor ensures maximum conductivity. Each DUI is calibrated on a Sun distributor machine with a super smooth advance curve for the engine it is going into. The advance curve is based on information about the cam, compression ratio, octane of fuel, carburetor size and vehicle weight. A custom tuned advance curve provides more horsepower, instant throttle response and prevents engine damaging detonation. This combination will provide the most complete combustion possible for a more efficient and powerful running Flathead!
