Mustang II Tubular Control Arms VS Stock Stamped Arms

The Mustang II may be the oft maligned second generation of Ford’s Pony car, but if there is one thing Ford got right when building it was the front suspension. The Mustang II’s compact independent front suspension (IFS) design meant it could fit into many narrow frame hot rods to replace their stock straight axle front ends. With a little careful measuring and welding, a hot rodder could add the Mustang II front suspension with better suspension geometry, modern tube shocks, disc brakes, and rack-and-pinion steering in one relatively simple project. Once the word got out the hot rod suspension industry took off with all manner of weld-in or bolt-in Mustang II crossmembers to allow adding the popular Mustang II front suspension to just about anything.
