Take The Frustration Out Of Power Brake Conversions With Our Depth Gauge Tool
When converting to power brakes, or simply replacing an existing power brake booster, there must be a correct 1/16th inch (.020-inch) gap between the brake booster’s integral pushrod and the master cylinder. If this gap is not correct it can cause a spongy/soft pedal. Worse is no gap (preload technically) where the master cylinder piston is compressed slightly once the master cylinder is tightened down to the power brake booster. This can cause brake drag and overheated brakes as if you were riding the brake pedal with your left foot (don’t do that either!). To get this specific gap correct would usually require careful depth measurements with a vernier/dial caliper or a depth gauge, along with a ruler and a little bit of math. Who wants to do math, right? Exactly, which is why we produced this nifty little brake booster push rod adjustment tool.
Measure And Adjust Power Brake Booster Pushrods in Seconds!
Using our brake booster rod adjustment tool is easy. Place the end of the tool marked for the master cylinder onto the end of your master cylinder. The embedded magnets will help hold the tool securely while you loosen the lock knob and push the stainless steel master cylinder depth gauge in until it bottoms within the master cylinder bore. Tighten the lock knob and then transfer the brake booster pin adjustment tool to your new brake booster and check the brake booster rod adjustment. Adjust the brake booster rod in or out until you have the proper gap to the tip of the master cylinder depth gauge and you’re ready to bolt your master cylinder on.
It truly couldn’t be any easier using our brake booster adjustment tool to complete your brake booster rod adjustment, be it on the bench or in the engine compartment with your new brake booster already bolted up to your firewall. Machined from billet aluminum and black anodized for great looks with maximum corrosion and scratch protection, the laser engraved details make handling your brake booster rod adjustment a breeze.
