on older trucks when you install Locar shifter, the original hole in floor is way forward and if mounted there the angle for shift rod is too steep. This unit bolts to back of transmission and your rod shoots back before it shoots forward and the angle works out great. Have used this in the past and will use it again when needed. well worth the extra money to do the job correctly.

This linkage let me use the 4 speed hump transmission cover on my 59 Chevy Apache, while installing a 700r4 trans. The 4 speed cover has a cut out for the shifter. You need this kit to move the locker shifter all the way forward so the linkage won't jam. Works Great.

when installing shifter I wanted it to be in original hole in floor which is all the way on front of mounting bracket, problem is the angle from shifter to trans lever is too steep and it does not work properlly. this unit moves pivot to rear of trans and makes angle just right for my turbo 350 trans.
