This shifter is being used for a resto mod 47 GMC five window. This application needs the shifter to be mounted to the front of the transmission attatchment bracket which also entails that another kit be installed that provides a bellcrank so the shift rods will match up to the shift arm on the transmission. The problem is that if you have a 4L60 that the rods hit the plug for the converter lock up so you just bend the little 1/4-28 rod around the plug. After you do that the wimpy rods flex and after a few shift checks it goes down hill and you can't select the right shift position. What l did was to build new shift rods useing 3/8 od x 1/4 id steel tubing and rosette welded the 1/4 28 rod inside the tubing. I did this so l could use the supplied ball end joints. After all this fabrication it shifted better but not great the arm on the shifter was too weak and flexed so l removed it and welded a triangle into the arm (This may not work on a tight floor tunnel) after this was done the shifting finality felt OK not like a Hurst shifter on a M-22 but acceptable on a automatic. Lokar needs to make better shift rods! I do recommend with the exception that you will spend some time fabricating befor the shifter works as it should.
