Steering Travel Stops Prevent Wheel/Tire Damage When Using Custom Offset Wheels 

When it comes to the typical recirculating ball style of steering box the steering limit is often built into the spindle and lower control arm design. You can usually spot this setup easily due to the cast in stop on the spindle and/or a reinforced stop plate on the control arm. These are engineered for stock ride heights and factory wheel widths/offsets and often do not work properly on vehicles that have been lowered or with aftermarket wheels that change the offset or width.

When designing our LevelSet™ front suspension for the C10 pickup, and more specifically our LevelSet™ drop spindles, we knew that offering some form of steering stop would be essential for those that were going to use our C10 drop spindles and control arms but not the full 5-inch drop kit with crossmember that includes rack-and-pinion steering (steering racks have their own internal steering stops/limiters). Providing a bolt-on external steering stop option means protecting your expensive wheels and tires from rub damage with the body, frame, or suspension.

Direct Bolt-On Fitment with Adjustable Length Provides Maximum Steering Angle

Obviously, you want as much steering angle as possible, so you are not having to make a 3-point turn just to get out of a parking spot. However, you also want to be able to setup your LevelSet™ C10 drop spindles and control arms with a simple, yet effective steering stop solution to prevent damage to your wheels and/or tires when turning at full lock. Don’t worry, we got you! Our LevelSet™ adjustable steering stop kit provides an easy to install bolt-on steering stop that is adjustable using the included shims/spacers to provide the maximum steering angle/turning radius while preventing tire/wheel rub. 

Made from 6061 aluminum, the steering stop main body measures 2.60-inches in length and can be used without any shims for maximum steering angle of 33 degrees. However, if your wheel offset or width require additional length to the steering stop to prevent rubbing we include a .250-inch (1/4”) shim and three .063-inch (1/16”) shims (per side) to help you dial in the exact steering stop needed, up to a maximum of 3.04-inches in length or just 22 degrees of steering angle, and all secured by a 3/8-16 x 4-inch long ASTM F835 alloy steel tapered-head cap screw.
