Hit any cruise night in America and you’re bound to trip over at least a couple of turbocharged LS swapped vehicles. From 3rd Gen Camaros to C10 pickup trucks, and even some Fords, there is simply no denying the power that a turbocharged LS can put to the tires. Whether you already have a 5.3 LS engine down on the frame rails and you’re looking to add a 5.3 LS single turbo kit to it, or you’re still in the planning phase with your 5.3 LS sitting on engine stand in the shop, getting everything you need to build the critical, and often complicated, hot side of a 5.3 LS single turbo kit is a breeze now thanks to our LS hot side turbo kit we’ve built using VS Racing turbos and Hooker’s LS turbo manifold kit as key pieces. Throw in the turbo flange, V-band clamps, and the proper wastegate and all you have to do is break out the welder! We feel this is one of the best budget LS turbo kit offerings to build the hot side of an LS single turbo kit you will find that can easily create an 800 HP LS combination or even a 1,000 HP 5.3 LS with the proper supporting parts.

Our Hot Side LS Single Turbo Kit Starts with A 67mm Turbo Ready for Bolt-On Power

The heart of the LS hot side turbo kit is VS Racing’s 78/75 cast turbo, which can easily support a 1,000 HP LS build of your dreams. Starting with VS Racing’s precisely machined cast iron turbine housing that uses a divided T4 mounting flange and 4-inch V-band clamp outlet, a cast aluminum compressor wheel and oil cooled journal bearing center housing assembly is fitted and then finished off with a cast aluminum compressor housing with 4-inch inlet and 3.0-inch outlet. Spool up is quick with the 1.25 A/R turbine housing and cast compressor wheel. This is the perfect foundation for an 800 HP 6.0 LS build or turn up the boost and have yourself a 1,000 HP 6.0 LS!

The 4-inch turbine outlet is easily plumbed using a section of 4-inch tubing to create front fender exit exhaust or build off the 4-inch tubing to adapt to your current exhaust system. The compressor outlet uses 3.0-inch tubing that is easily retained using hose couplers and T-bolt style clamps.

Our 78mm LS hot side turbo kit includes the required AN4 to 1/8-inch NPT adapter to feed the center bearing fresh, clean engine oil, along with a slick AN10 drain flange adapter with AN10 fitting. These items work great with our T4 oil feed and drain kit to plumb your engine’s pressurized oil to the turbo’s center housing assembly. At the oil pan you’ll need to add an AN -10 weld on bung fitting or you can bolt on our LS swap oil pan with built in turbo oil drain fitting if you need a LS swap turbo kit pan anyway.

To mount the hot side of your 6.0 LS single turbo kit to your engine we’re including Hooker’s cast iron LS turbo manifold kit for a perfect fit to your LS engine. The Hooker LS turbo manifold kit provides a great fit with turbo inlet placement at the right front of the engine. Hooker’s LS turbo headers with crossover pipe kits offer several options for application specific 16-gauge stainless steel exhaust LS turbo crossover pipe designs. This LS turbo hot side piping kit is designed to fit the popular T56 manual and 6L80 automatic overdrive transmissions. We offer additional 78mm LS turbo hot side piping kits with LS turbo crossover pipe fitments for 4L60/4L80T56/6L80, and a universal kit that you can cut and weld to fit just about any LS single turbo kit and transmission out there, making these the best turbo kit for 6.0 LS builds anywhere. We also offer these same LS single turbo kit applications with a smaller 67mm turbo as well, perfect to build a 5.3 LS single turbo kit from.

The included LS single turbo kit T4 flange bolts directly to the turbo in the kit and provides unlimited placement options using the supplied 3-inch U-bend tubing and V-band clamps/flanges to attach to the Hooker LS turbo manifold kit outlet. A 44mm VS Racing wastegate, additional V-band clamps and hardware round out the rest of the LS hot side single turbo installation kit.

If you have ever fabbed a turbo onto an ls before, you know that most of these cars were not built with a single turbo in mind. That said, this kit makes it super simple to drop in a big turbo. This one went into a 2000 C5 corvette, most of the parts were plug and play, aside from the fab that you will need to do for your downpipe and cold side. Make sure you plan your layout before putting it all together.
