Customers praise the product for its high quality, practicality, and safety enhancement, especially for vintage Ford owners. The fit and finish are deemed good for the price, and the anodized finish adds aesthetic appeal to the undercarriage. Some customers had to adjust the product for a perfect fit, involving minor grinding, but found this acceptable given the product's overall value. Despite requiring slight tweaks, the product reportedly operates as intended. The added safety element was well-received, with the product contributing to car rebuild projects. The addition of all required hardware is appreciated. Lastly, the product's concept is seen to be top-notch and it is recommendable due to its easy installation and usefulness. Many users would repurchase the product.

Does the job
This product does what it is supposed to do to do, but with modifications. I had to re bend it a little and grind it to go over the brake drum lip. If the supplier would make it a tiny bit larger, then these modifications would no be required. It is not a fit all for early ford banjo rear axles. Brake drum lip and thickness comes into play

Decent, some modifications
Hello, I bought these brake drum / axle retainers for my 1940 Ford Coupe. I'm running a stock 'original' banjo rear-end, with stock 40 Ford brake drums. These retainers DID NOT FIT CORRECTLY right out of the box. (retainers were touching the drums) Now, the directions clearly state that a little GRINDING may be required, which I'm totally cool with. I had to grind A LOT. (angle grinder flap-disc) Grinding took about 10 to 15 minutes per side. I didn't want to take too much off of each retainer. So, I would grind, mount to car and then grind more. Once I obtained the proper fit over each rear brake drum, I felt my rear wheels might rub. Sure enough both rear wheels (ever so slightly) rubbed the retainers. Again, I used my angle-grinder with flap-disc and rounded all the out-side edges of the retainer. This worked and no more rubbing! This kit is good and IF you enjoy a little fabrication, like I do, then it's no big deal! A little grinding sure beats your axle floating out on the freeway!

Good product and very necessary, but it does not fit out on the box. Instructions says it requires a minimum of (whatever) gap. There is none as made. Needed to grind about 80 thousands of an inch off each bracket for minimum clearance. But after that, it's all good!

They fit well, but there was a small amount of grinding involved, just a couple minutes per bracket.

Installation We have a '40 Ford with hydraulic brakes. I see the pic of the final installation, but how is this attached? Is it attached using the wheel cylinder holes? Must other holes be drilled? With the self-locking nuts, it seems like they are installed with the brake drum off. But then, how do you install the brake drum?
