The Dynatech Split Flow Race Muffler is highly effective in sound reduction for motorsports, particularly on rotary engine vehicles like the Mazda RX-8. It successfully maintains sound levels below track standards, even under extensive use. Durability is high, albeit affected by extreme heat, suggesting it may need periodic replacement in high intensity conditions. Additionally, its compact design offers flexibility in installation while ensuring minimal airflow restriction. Its attractive packaging adds to the overall appeal. Users appreciate its significant noise control performance, setting it notably ahead of others in the market.

As a follow up to my previous evaluation involving the Dynatech Split Flow muffler's use in SCCA Road Racing, on a Mazda RX-8, let me add this. With respect to the SCCA's 103Db limit on sound level readings, our first race weekend at Blackhawk Farms Raceway showed a 96Db reading. The second weekend at Mid-Ohio yielded pretty much the same. The third at Road America, however, showed to be 102, 103, and one 104 Db, at the end of qual session two. The fourth weekend at Gingerman Raceway, in Michigan, proved to be the same. I surmise that I may have burned the muffler out with the high heat from the rotary motor. I have ordered another Dynatech, and we will be back at Road America in two weeks. When I install the new one, I can get a visual on the old muffler, and the decibel reading should be back to normal. Track time per weekend is about two and a half hours of foot the floor speeds, so this muffler may become a maintenance item, like brakes and tires. Stand by for the next update to find out.

Most road courses have noise restrictions these days. Exhaust rules are fairly open, so it is up to the competitor to pass the noise requirements. Rotary motors are especially hard to quiet down, and the Dynatech, alone, brings the db level down to well under the max allowable, while utilizing a 3" mandrel bent pipe. Upon visually inspection, there is virtually no linear restriction. The compact size allows the designer to put it nearly anywhere in the system. It is attractively packaged and I have really nothing derogatory to say about the product.
