Stop Wasting Money on Cheap Paper Exhaust Header Collector Gaskets
When buying headers for your ride many of the brands you’ll find provide gaskets for the header flange and collector along with header bolts in the box for a complete installation solution. While this is admirable of the manufacturer, often the included gaskets (and even the bolts at times) are made from subpar materials to keep product costs down while providing this “everything you need in one box” purchase mentality. The truth of the matter is that these paper/fiber header and collector gaskets may help get your headers installed but they certainly will not seal very well or last exceptionally long. The main issue is sealing. Both the header collectors and the exhaust system starter tubes can have irregularities that cause the gaskets not to seal and to be easily blown out. Add to that issue that paper based gaskets often can’t handle the intense exhaust heat in some applications and will burn/turn hard, causing leaks as well. The answer? High quality ThermoTight dead soft copper gaskets that form over minor imperfections for a better seal that are also reusable, saving you money overall.
Dead Soft Copper for Superior Sealing and Reusability
Paper and other fiber-based gaskets are not the best materials to use for sealing exhaust systems. Sure, you can slather on a bunch of silicone or other gasket maker to help but that just makes a mess of your engine and headers. What about soaking those paper gaskets in water to expand them for a better seal? Sure, it’s an old hot rodder trick that might help, once! Or the gaskets may completely fall apart on you. No, the best sealing is offered via materials like dead soft copper. Stamped from .041-inch thick dead soft copper gasket material, this malleable material easily conforms to header collector flanges and your 3-bolt header collector starter tubes.
The dead soft copper header gaskets maintain their softness and have no annealing properties so the copper header collector gaskets can be formed repeatedly to maintain the best seal use after use. This makes the ThermoTight copper exhaust gaskets perfect for engines that see a lot of header exhaust system removal like race cars, engines that see a lot of tear down like turbo setups, or enthusiasts that like to change headers with under car exhaust to zoomies or outside the frame lake pipe setups for an event or cruise. The embossed sealing ridge on the copper header collector gaskets helps sealing even further by adding additional conformity to the material, while helping to maintain the gaskets reusability and durability.
Overcome High Heat Exhaust Collector Gasket Failures, Blowouts, Leaks, and More
Copper is used in wiring because it is a great conductor, both of electricity and heat. Being a solid thermal conductor, copper makes for an excellent exhaust gasket material. Paper-type gaskets are the exact opposite, as paper is an insulator, holding in those high exhaust temperatures. This insulating effect is what burns the exhaust collector gasket, turning it brittle and causing leaks and blow outs between the exhaust collector mounting holes, where gasket coverage is thinnest and clamping force is the lowest.
Paper gaskets also “set” over time, which is why most manufacturers recommend constant header collector bolt tightening. The bolts aren’t backing out, the gasket is shrinking/setting, and the bolts require tightening to apply clamping force on the paper gaskets again to maintain proper sealing. With the use of ThermoTight dead soft copper header collector gaskets you won’t have to worry about your collector bolts being a maintenance issue, as the copper gasket material does not shrink or blow out like paper gaskets do.
Solve your exhaust gasket sealing problems with our ThermoTight dead soft copper collector gaskets and put exhaust collector leaks behind you. Easy to install, reusable, and premium materials at an excellent value that are perfect for high performance engines used in serious street cars or racing and for extensive high heat applications like supercharged or turbocharged builds. What’s not to like? Don’t forget dead soft copper header gaskets too for a complete header sealing solution! We offer ThermoTight copper header gaskets in SBC, SBF, and Ford Flathead exhaust port configurations.

Customers appreciate these collector gaskets for their excellent material quality, especially the copper, which provides a perfect seal for Sandersen headers and other custom builds. The gaskets' reusable and robust nature is a favored feature, showing resistance to becoming brittle. Users confirm they provide great fitment, prevent leaks, and improve exhaust performance. They commend the gaskets as being a far superior option than fiber ones they've used before, lasting significantly longer. Some reviews noted the included bolts hardware was subpar; however, the gasket's quality and price overrule this minor issue, resulting in high recommendations.

Best deal on copper gaskets
I purchased some name brand copper gaskets at a local autoparts store to replace some fiber gaskets that kept burning out on our endurance race car. They worked good. But they were pretty pricey. I saw these gaskets on the Speedway website and decided to try them as they were much cheaper and even included bolts and nuts. They were the same exact gasket as the Mr. Gasket brand! But the Speedway brand is a much better deal! We have put 2 14 hour races on the gaskets with zero issues. In fact I have actually had to disassemble the exhaust a few times to fix some leaks while at the race and just reused the gaskets with no leak issues after that. I would recommend these gaskets to anyone with three bolt header flanges.

The gasket is good, however don't plan on using the supplied hardware. I found the stainless bolts to have bad threads and are very soft. The threads galled even with lubrication.

Got collector gaskets and new copper gaskets for header to head , those are super sweet my collector was actually flared exhaust pipe to conical ring ,( no gasket needed) but back to header gasket went in super nice , sealed up nice would definitely use these over conventional gaskets , a little pricey but with the aggravation of changing them anyway I'd say spend the money and use the copper . 5 stars from me
