I'll start off by saying that I've had quite a bit of experience with American Autowire products. The first kit i ever installed was their classic update series in my 1972 c10. I didn't know anything about electricity except it hurt when you touch it. I had the cheapest crimper available, a roll of solder, a soldering iron, and just went at it. It was tough for me. Took me a solid 40 hours to wire my truck. But, when I turned the key everything worked. Well except my headlights. But that was my fault for not sanding the paint off under the grounds for the headlights. Once I did that then everything worked. That was in 2014. American Autowire makes the best products on the market for what they do. Hands down. Even a guy like me that had no idea what they were doing and armed with the minimalist of tools achieved success. Let that be a testament to what American Autowire is producing for automotive wiring needs. Since then I've installed about 15 kits in various trucks and cars. So I figured why not invest in the proper tools at this point in my career. I have mixed feelings about these crimpers. Yes, they are well built quality tools. Could you do without them? Absolutely. Are there other options? Absolutely. But they do work for crimping almost every kind of terminal you encounter in one of their kits. This set takes some getting use to. If you're starting out and you get these 2 crimpers and learn from the beginning using these tools you will do fine. In my personal opinion I feel like these tools are a bit more time consuming to use because they perform one action with each crimp. I have another ratchet type crimper that performs both crimps in one go. For someone doing their own project it's not a big deal. But I'm doing this for a living and time is money. Having said that, these are about the only crimpers I've found that work for the packard 56 male terminals without destroying the retaining wings. All in all. Worth the buy.

Pricey, for sure, but they make great, factory style crimps once you take a minute or two to learn how to use them. Proper wire placement, strip length and orientation in the crimper are all important, but once you get it down, quick and easy, strong crimps.
