Installation Tips

Choosing the right torque converter starts with stall speed, the RPM the engine reaches before the converter stops slipping and starts moving the vehicle. The target is a stall speed within about 700 RPM of the engine's peak torque, so it launches at the front of its power band. Too low and the engine bogs off the line; too high and the converter slips, builds heat, and raises cruise RPM. Higher stall is not automatically better, so match the converter to the whole combination: an aggressive cam, numerically higher rear gear, and lighter vehicle favor more stall, while a mild cam, lower gear, heavier vehicle, or taller tire call for less. For towing, prioritize low-end torque multiplication over stall. Published stall ratings come from a standard test engine, so real-world stall runs higher behind engines making more torque and lower behind engines making less. Smaller diameters generally stall higher and react faster, while larger diameters offer better street manners and cruise. Before installing, confirm the input shaft spline count, bolt pattern, pilot hub diameter, mounting depth, and whether your transmission supports lock-up. Prime the converter with fresh ATF and make sure it is fully seated on all three engagements before bolting up. Add an external transmission cooler for higher-stall, towing, track, or hot-weather use.

These converters are designed to handle nitrous, transbrake or blower applications. Rated to 800HP, it is the perfect converter to drive to the track and be competitive.
