Finish Your Ford 9-inch Installation with Our Ready to Run 11-Inch Drum Brake Kit
There is no denying that Ford’s 9-inch axle is the most popular performance rear axle still used today. From race cars to high-performance street cars, lifted trucks, and everything in between, if it has the power to blow apart a GM 10-bolt then it needs the strength of a 9-inch behind it. The venerable Ford 9-inch axle is also quite popular due to its vast aftermarket support. No other axle has the depth of product availability when it comes to differentials, gear ratios, axles, and more than the famed Ford 9-inch. Even performance rear suspension options are most often built to work with the 9-inch rear, so if you’re upgrading to a high-performance four-link or other type of rear suspension you’re going to need a 9-inch axle.
We offer several direct fit 9-inch Ford axle assemblies for GM cars and trucks, including square body C10 and OBS Chevy trucks to name a few. We know our customers desire to retain the GM wheel bolt pattern for their wheels and have a budget drum brake option when building up their Ford 9-inch rear end for their project. Our dual bolt pattern 11-inch rear drum brakes package for the 9-inch Ford rear end is the perfect solution to keep running your GM-spec wheels post Ford rear end update and provide ample braking for your truck.
Fully Assembled Drum Brakes Ready for Use with Big Ford Torino Bearing End Housings
No longer do you have to scrounge for original Ford rear drum brakes, worn from decades of use, to try and refurbish for your classic Chevy truck rear end swap. Forget combing through backing plates trying to find a good set that isn’t all grooved up or taking stock Ford brake drums and dealing with redrilling them for your GM bolt pattern. You can skip all that hassle and mess with our dual bolt pattern 11-inch brake drum kit.
The dual bolt pattern 11-inch drum brake kit is built off brand new steel backing plates for smooth brake shoe movement. Mounted to the backing plates are new wheel cylinders. The asbestos free organic friction material brake linings measure 11x2-1/4" and are riveted to the brake shoes, which is much superior to bonded linings. The shoes are secured to the backing plates with all new springs and hardware and arrive at your doorstep fully assembled. This makes finishing off your 9-inch build a simple task of adding the assembled 11-inch drum brake backing plates to your housing end, slipping your new axles into place, and securing everything with the axle housing’s T-bolts and lock nuts. The cast iron drums are computer balanced for a smooth ride and feature both GM 5-lug bolt patterns of 5x5 and 5x5-1/2. These are ready for parking brake cables to connect to factory or aftermarket parking brake levers.
Application
This brake drum kit is perfect for our bolt-in 9-inch housing and axle kits for square body and OBS Chevy trucks and can be used on any large bearing “Torino” 9-inch housing with axles that have 5x5 or 5x5-1/2 wheel bolt patterns.
