Wire Your Hot Rod, Truck, or Muscle Car Like a Pro with Our 22 Circuit Wiring Harness

Classic muscle cars and hot rods are often sidelined with electrical issues mainly due to decades old crumbling wiring that has been patched and cut and spliced together over the years. Flickering lights, hard starting, inaccurate, or inoperable dash gauges and more are problems that can often be solved with an overhaul of the vehicle’s wiring system. Ditching that spaghetti under your dashboard and that ancient Bakelite fuse box that uses glass fuses is the fastest way to make your classic a reliable, and fun, ride you’ll want to take out every weekend instead of dreading those wiring issues every time you twist the key.

The Speedway 22 circuit wiring harness is a great solution for classic vehicles, kit cars, replicas, and race cars that need extra accessory wiring circuits over and above the basics like ignition, lighting, horn, wipers, gauges, and AC/heat. Whether you're building an option-laden car with power windows, power locks, cruise control and more, or just want to have extra circuits available in your fuse box for future updates, this 22-circuit wiring kit has the circuit capability you are looking for. Perfect for hot rods, muscle cars, classic trucks, and other applications where you’re planning on running modern power accessories usually found on restomod or pro touring type of builds, the harness easily handles your lights, ignition, and other necessities to be road legal while providing plenty of expansion. Any unused circuits can be bundled up and tucked away under the dash for future use. The compact fuse block uses standard ATO/ATC spec fuses you can find at any auto parts store) can mount just about anywhere under the dash or on the firewall.

Plug-and-Play with GM Tilt Columns, Including Factory and Aftermarket Versions

Wiring up the steering column controls can be a daunting task, but our harness makes it easy. This harness plugs directly into most GM-style tilt steering columns. It connects to aftermarket tilt columns from ididit, Flaming River, or Speedway Motors, as well as factory GM tilt columns from 1968-1996 cars, trucks and vans (see our full list of compatible GM columns. If you're sourcing a column from the junkyard, look for one with a flat "ribbon" plug, either 3-7/8-inch or 4-1/4-inch long (with 10 or more wires). Ignition switch plugs to connect "keyed" GM columns are also included in this kit.

Not using a GM tilt column? No problem. This harness easily splices into other steering columns with the included pin-out wiring diagram (it helps to have a wiring schematic for your vehicle here, too). We include the proper wiring connectors for the GM column mounted ignition switch, but these can be used for a dash mounted ignition switch using the included wiring diagrams. Headlight connectors, headlight switch, high beam dimmer switch, horn relay, accessory wiring leads, and other connectors are included as well to ensure your installation is completed without drama.

Modern High-Quality Automotive Grade Insulated Wire Labeled Every Six Inches

Patches and splicing are tedious and unreliable. Your car deserves better! Start fresh with modern polyethylene-insulated, stranded bare copper wire. Each harness is constructed from premium quality GXL automotive wiring, with the appropriate wire diameter for each fused circuit (ranging 8 to 16 gauge). Every strand of this wire harness is covered with a high-temperature (-40°F to +257°F) outer coating, color coded using standard GM wire circuit colors and labeled every six inches with the circuit name to aid in a smooth installation for any DIY enthusiast. We even provide the correct wiring and terminals to connect a traditional GM alternator or the popular “one wire” alternators many opt to use. In other words, you can expect the same quality of automotive wiring used by the big three OE manufacturers.

Modular Design Fuse Block with Modern Fuses for Easy Servicing

A fully labeled fuse block gives easy service, fuse replacement, and endless mounting solutions. The fuse block includes two molded through mounts to use screws, bolts, or studs to mount on your firewall, transmission tunnel, or cowl side panel under the dash. Most importantly, the fuse box uses modern ATO/ATC spec blade fuses and a common two-terminal style flasher for both turn signals and hazard warning lights (both mount directly in the fuse panel). No more fragile, corroded glass fuses! Crimp connectors, terminals, and more are included to get you started right away. Of course we have all the electrical accessories you could need for a full wiring harness replacement, or take a look at our 22 circuit wiring harness installation kits, which feature everything you need for a successful harness installation.

Conveniently Bundled Wires Makes Harness Routing and Installation Stress Free

This Speedway Motors wiring harness works with nearly any 12-volt vehicle, engine, and transmission combination (carb or EFI, automatic or manual), including engine swaps and is the perfect solution for vehicles with no reproduction harness options, custom builds, or the budget-minded DIY builder. The harness consists of 11 branches that are strategically bundled to simplify installation. These pre-sorted wire bundles help the first time wire harness installer make the installation go smoothly, taking a lot of the guess work out of wire routing. The 17-foot-long taillight leads allow easy connection in most vehicles, including wagons and pickup trucks. The Speedway 22 circuit wiring harness includes a 7-page instruction book with color diagrams, covering each of the pre-bundled circuits in detail. Simply route your harness as needed, make your connections, bundle, and wrap your finished harness and be amazed at just how dependable your ride is now with updated wiring.

Overall Assessment

Customers praise the product's excellent quality and value for the cost. They appreciate the detailed labelling and the wire gauge chart, which helps with installation. The harness is sturdy, versatile, and well-constructed with high-quality wire that resists melting or burning. Many customers have used it for multiple vehicle models, noting its reliability and performance compared to pricier alternatives. Although some concerns are raised about certain unfused circuits and the hot power for windows and seats, the overall feedback highlights the harness as being practical, durable, and user-friendly. With plenty of wire length and circuits, it's ideal for various applications. It's recommended for those keen on DIY and looking for a cost-effective yet high-quality option. Negative comments about inadequate wiring for wiper switches and short headlamp and park/turn light wires do not diminish the overall positive customer response.

Yes. Don't let the price fool you.

I have used this kit on three separate vehicles. 1986 Chevy Truck, 1965 Cadillac, and a 1962 Impala. What I looked for initially in a kit was labeled wires. All the kits I found were crazy expensive, and then I stumbled upon this little gem. I almost don't want to hype it up, out of fear that Speedway will increase the price. This kit came with everything I needed, with the exception of explicit details on headlight/taillight wiring. What I would do, is document and duplicate your original headlight wiring, or resort to good ol' google/youtube search for a proper relay wiring job. For me, I started out by mounting the fuse box, from there, use an easily removable painters tape to group wires together. Lay them out in the direction each will be headed. Again, every wire is labeled, and already grouped together when you receive the kit, so this is a breeze. String the groups out through your car, and start picking away at the install per the instructions; it's really not hard. Whatever way you find best for you, this kit couldn't of been easier, and in turn more reliable. Like I said, it's been used on three separate vehicles with great success. The instructions are very clear, and for the most part, the visuals are more than enough. For the money, there is no way any "high end" manufacturer can compete. Aside from that, having a fresh wiring system in an old car is the very best way to ensure reliability and safety down the road. That's half the reason I replaced all the wiring in the cars mentioned prior. Just a great buy, and I will absolutely buy again.

No I would not use again

wires were placed in the wrong sections. I found a wire that was placed in the engine compartment set so had to pull that wire out and find the right one and remove it from the instrument cluster and reroute both wires to proper areas. Dome light wire is labeled wrong. They have it marked on wire as battery postive not as listed on paper as DOME. Dome ground is labeled as crtsy ground on wire , when paper says DOME GROUND. 12v power wire had a female connection on it and the other side had none. Should have a male connector so you can plug the power feeds together. I called the tech support and they told me that it was their fault. Did not try and make things right. I had to buy my own connectors. Next truck I will spend the money on a painless harness.
