Make More Power for Your Small Block Chevy with Bolt on Ease
If there is one performance upgrade that has become “the” part to install it has to be the aluminum SBC intake manifold (and the requisite four barrel carburetor it allows as well). Most factory SBC intake manifold material used up through the early 1980s was cast iron, except for a few rare factory performance pieces. These iron manifolds weighed a ton and held most engines back as if they were sucking air through a drinking straw, meaning they weren’t the best SBC intake for torque. Adding that aluminum SBC intake manifold and a four barrel carb were almost a right of passage to any hot rodder back in the day.
Today, small block Chevy intake manifold design and manufacturing has come a long way, allowing that same bolt on performance update to make more power while saving you some hard earned cash. Take our dual plane small block Chevy aluminum intake manifold for example. We’ve stuffed a lot of performance into this casting, including large 1-7/8" tall, 1-1/8" wide high flow runners mated to a high rise dual plane plenum machined for the standard square bore carburetor flange used by many popular four barrel carburetor brands like Holley and Edelbrock.
Though our high rise plenum sits at 5 inches for greater throttle response it will fit under most stock hoods (except for Corvette). The dual plane design and high rise configuration increases velocity and provides single plane like upper rpm power without sacrificing lower rpm street driving ability just off idle. We feel it is the best SBC dual plane intake manifold for the money. This SBC intake works great for street and strip use in everything from a mild 327 or 350 up to big cube strokers like the popular 350-based 383.
This SBC intake features a natural aluminum finish or optional polished finish with dual distributor clamp hold down points with enough runner clearance for HEI-style distributors. It is a solid performer on any ’57-’86 small block Chevy engine and accepts all standard Chevy heater hose fittings and thermostat housings as well. Extra thick valve cover gaskets are recommended for use with this small block Chevy intake manifold for sufficient valve cover clearance and don’t forget the intake gaskets and mounting bolts either so your SBC intake install goes as smoothly as possible!

If you're building a low power street motor, this is a great piece. Don't expect this to be like a USA casting. One cylinder had 0.200 thousandths core shift on the port. Had to be heavily ported to match the head.

I would have given this 5 stars but the first I take I received didn't have some of the holes tapped for the carb. I had to send it back before Speedway would send a replacement. Rather annoying since this wasn't my fault and I provided photos. Onto the intake. Solid looking intake at a good price. Performed well on my mild build 350.

Very nicely polished. Looks really nice under hood.. As mentioned in its description..my Edelbrock classic valve covers needed to be slightly trimmed in the intake running areas (only 1-1/2"area in two spots). Can't tell it was done when assembled. I used thicker valve cover gaskets too..
